Haglers chin looks amazing on film, almost like his head is filled with concrete. How much damage could his best version take from LHW, Cruiserweight or even Heavyweight punchers? I'm not saying the guy couldnt be KOd, just wondering what it would take.

    Good question!

I think he may get stopped at LHW, but only by the ref because he is too tough for his own good.

I can't really imagine anyone laying Marv out cold, though.

If we are talking about a 15 round fight vs. Larry Holmes, (decent hitting long reach heavyweight) how long can Hagler last with a referee who doesnt want to stop it?

Seems unknowable, really. Hagler's face showed damage from Mugabi's shots--who knows how it would have held up against Marvin Johnson's uppercuts or a straight MSM right?

Hearns had ungodly power for his size, connected well, and barely fazed Hagler. I think it would have taken a Tyson or Wlad to canvass ko Hagler.

Wlad would KO Hagler with 1 shot..

A prime 88 Tyson might possibly stop him with a hard combination..

Cmon people get real Hagler wasn't bulletproof, he had an awesome chin but was only 160 lbs, i can't see him taking hard shots by men who outweigh him 60-80 lbs that's asking way too much..

And BTW it's Hagler, NOT Haggler:nut

Hagler was bleeding a lot against Mugabi in 86, floored against Roldan in 1984, and in 1976 he was beaten up and floored by Bobby Watts:deal

    1) Hearns did not have ungodly power at 160

    2) Quite a leap between Hearns and Tyson/Wlad...

I can....Bob Foster. Consider **** Tiger...If he had retired from boxing at the same age as Marvin Hagler (when Hag retired)...at 33,...he too would have never been decked. However, Tiger suffered his first kd as a pro at the age of 37 by Emile Griffith....a very brief, 2 count kd. His chin was still stout, having endured LIGHTHEAVYWEIGHT bombs without a flinch, when he stepped into the ring with Bob Foster...and we know what happened in round 4. I'm saying that Foster would likely been the guy to do the same to Hagler...if anybody was capable, it was he,...and possibly Mike Spinks as well.

    Spinks-Hagler would've been incredible. Qawi-Hagler would've been a firefight.

James Toney was only 160 lbs at a time and could still take a heavyweight punch, he mights have a better chin than Hagler, but anything is possible.

These types of questions are hard to answer. Obviously he isn't taking a heavyweight punch. Not weighing 160 as he did. Marv wasn't a big middle either.

The Toney example is a good one but James was in bodyweight a heavyweight and he protected himself very well. Some food for thought though...

Yes indeed. I think Hags just might have the greatest chin of all. Never seen him stunned and he took deep thuds from Mugabi. And Toney moved quite a bit more with that Michigan shoulder roll.

Marvin was a monster at 160 but even as he begged for big fights he had no interest in moving up as many other fighters have .. that tells you something .. **** Tiger had an exceptional chin at 160 then he ran into Bob Foster .. anyone can get caught ..

His chin was as good as james toney's so I think Hagler could have taken shots at the higher weight divisions. He was too disciplined and in shape, though to move up just for the sake of moving up, unlike Toney.
