Could have Mike Tyson reigned as champion for 3 years in the 1960's ?

And funny how Tyson's biggest haters claim he was an overrated mental midget who couldn't beat anyone who wasn't either a crackhead, heroine addict, or a never was.

I guess Ali got tired of wax on, wax off. But Moore was a great man and fighter.

Nobody portrays him as a mental midget, but you people don't look at the bigger picture. Tyson's childhood was a mess and he struggled bigtime until Cus came along and became a sort of father figure. It is only logical that will have an effect on him.
On the other hand, Ali came from a loving family who had a good financial situation. Different story altogether.
Ali dreamt of becoming HW champ since he was a kid, while Tyson did it mainly for Cus. After he achieved that, he was never as hungry for the title and mostly fought for the money. That's why he even contemplated retiring in 88.
Throughout boxing, there have been plenty who's main motivation wasn't the love for the sport. It's quite funny that the best boxer of all time - SRR - is in that exact situation. SRR has clearly stated in interviews that he doesn't enjoy boxing and he only did it for the money.
Plus when you rose to the top as quickly as Mike did, when you have all the fame and money in the world all of a sudden, at such a young age, coming from being dirt poor, it is not hard to see how he lost the plot.
As for us Tyson fans claiming he is the best ever, that means that we think that at his peak he is the best, not that he had the best career.

Well if SRR only did it for the money, then that doesn't make him great. Because I make up the rules as we go along.

You know mental illness affects millions of people, what you write is true, but mental illness affects even those with perfect childhoods, it could stem from a chemical imbalance that the afflicted is unaware of, only the behaviors are noticeable to others. It has been documented that Mike had some mental issues and that he was not allowed to take his prescribed meds before a fight, because it could be termed illegal prior to the match, it could be detected through routine blood work. And I watched a documentary where it was said that Tyson would break down and cry for an unexplained reason during training. Mental midget, no, but he had some issues that could affect anyone, good life or bad.

You think he was the best if he had one person for whom there was no substitute in his corner. But that statement doesn't really compute. What it means is that Tyson-Rooney was the best team ever, not that Tyson was the best ever.

Tbf I think all fighters have deranged fans but Tyson's take it to another level! It's a shame because he IS a fascinating, exciting and unique fighter but his fans just make you want to hate him.
