Could Haye try and fight on the inside against Wlad? I don't mean popping in and out, but staying there for a while: real inside fighting. Neither fighter seems to have an inside game at all, but given the size disparity, Haye may be the fighter more able to do that here. If the ref stops Wlad leaning down on his opponent, is it perhaps be possible Haye may see an opening there? Is this Haye's master plan when he says to Wlad 'you can watch all the videos you like' but says he's going to fight in a style he's never fought like before? Could this be the reason for Haye's calling for a new ref to stop Wlads leaning and holding.... Just a question.
Can't see it myself. Like you say it's not one of Haye's strong points and Wlad will qiuckly sap his energy by tying him up and leaning. I think he has to go for a blowout in the first round, bob and weave and fight his way into range from the bell with heavy shots to try and give Wlad an anxiety attack and catch him cold. I also think that Haye may try to take Wlads jab away by nailing him to the elft side of the ribs early to get Wlad thinking twice about throwing the jab. Macklin did this brilliantly against Sturm the other night
wlad grabs inside every time these are no clinches they are tactics it shouldnt be allowed so frequently
wlad can be timed and countered from leaning attempts.haye has good reflexes with his speed. haye can swing big overhand shots while being clinched,or even slip the clinch,step to the side and boom,overhand rights and wlads down,repeat till wlad stays down.
He could try. But it wont work at all. Wlad is too big, and will tie him up every chance he gets. If he leans on Haye throughout the fight, it will sap him of energy. Would be a recipe for disaster IMO
To try this in the biggest fight of his career when he hasnt really done it before is suicidal - its a similar question to: will he fight southpaw? I think were blinded by the Groves fight, Haye thinks he can KO Wlad, always has, so he will do it with his usual style methinks
It's funny i've just read 'The Sporting life' and Holyfield reckons he should do just that. He said he struggled against Bowe and Lewis because they were good on the inside aswell as from range. And he reckons like the rest of us that Wlad can't do nothing on the inside, so his punches have no power from that distance. So he thinks Haye should spend has much time there as possible. He also acknowledged the fact that Haye at the same time cannot allow Klitschko to lean on him a lot. While Evander makes a good case, i think he was thinking of himself in that situation just as much as Haye, who for me and i'm sure you guys is a different fighter to Holyfield.
