Duran was a blown up light weight, Toney"s walk around weight is about 400 lbs well not quiet that heavy, he took Peters best shots so I would say it would be very hard for Tommy to tko him let alone ko him.

Hearns would hit harder than most anyone Toney faced. Had Julian Jackson ever gone upside Toney's head, you would not have to ask.

My opinion is no. Toney has spent some time at heavy, remember I said Hearns hit harder than most of Toney's opponents(not all), and I'm sure Sam Peter punches a bit harder than the Hit Man. Toney has yet to ever be in serious trouble of being stopped, and it is not just because of his defense. He's been hit a few times. May have something to do with his short, thick neck; and his relaxed style. Noone is more comfortable in a ring than James Toney. Even during heated action, he looks like he's taking a walk in a park.

I would pick Hearns to beat Toney, but not by stoppage.

Toney's been out on his feet, at lighter weights none the less.

    So it's possible.

Duran was over-the hill, at a blown up weight and did not train well beforehand. He also was on an emotional let down after his near upset of Hagler.

But a Toney even under Duran's conditions was big enough with a terrific chin.

I am surprised that they never crossed paths.

He's referencing his fight with Reggie Johnson.

    Very doubtful

Not with Toney's greater physical size (in comparison to Duran), defense, and cast iron chin

Personally i would pick james toney to beat hearns. I think nunn and mccallum would beat him too.

Im no hearns hater, but i think nunn would beat him everytime. However i would take hearns to school griffith, napoles and gavilan.

I'd take Hearns to KO Nunn, but lose to Toney. McCallum vs Hearns is a very tough bout to call, I may, in fact, favor McCallum based on styles.

I would take Griffith to beat him at WW, Gavilan is a very tough call, but I'd favor Hearns over Napoles.

Its ur opinion but i think nunn has a better chin than tommy does. Nunn has never been outboxed well, niether has hearns. Nunn was giving toney a boxing lesson prior to the stoppage and he is bigger than hearns. But its all hypothetical anyways. They have 1 common opponent, barkley, a man nunn beat in a snoozefest and a man that twice beat hearns.

Ive seen many of his fights from 88-93 and the talent/boxing ability nunn had was incredible. I rank him between 10-15 on all time middleweight lists, but this guy could have been top 5-7. Hes got far more talent than guys like fullmer, lamotta, etc.

Head to head i think nunn would have beaten dick tiger quite easily. He has the perfect style to keep the distance and box tiger's ears off.

You don't fault Nunn for being caught by a miracle shot from Toney, but do in regards to Hearns and Barkley?

As soon as leonard began hitting hearns, he got hurt. I like hearns, but there is no question that nunn has better whiskers. I think if hagler or monzon would have fought nunn, it prolly would have been the toughest fight of thier careers.

I kinda feel bad for nun to be honest with you guys. He never got the opportunity to fight guys like terry norris, nigel benn. These are two fighters i'm very confident that he would have defeated.
