Could Hearns have knocked out Margarito at 147?

Of course you do, because if you conceed that Hearns wouldn't knock Margarito out, you're effectively saying your boy Trinidad can't either. I will at least say it's possible for Hearns to knock Margarito out if he landed "X" amount of shots, but I wouldn't put money on it..not after seeing the man laugh at Cintron and Cotto's right hands.

 

Benitez was a defensive wizard right up there with sweetpea and Floyd, to start.

And there is no question in my mind that Hearns and Trinidad can KO Margo.

I would favour Margarito to stop Trinidad, but Hearns would win fairly handily. In both fights, Margarito doesn't get knocked out.

 

Tommy Hearns. In his first 33 fights, the 33rd being his 1st loss, TKO in the 14th to Leonard, only one of those 33 fights went to a decision. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. (Without all the name calling) It coulda been two so tell me if I got it wrong.

cotto is no where near the puncher tito was at 147 nor in hearns. cintron might be up there but hearns power and tito's power have broken granite. cintron although one of my favorite fighter struggled to KO feliciano. :-( really it was a TKO

He didn't Margarito in any of those fights so it's fairly irrelevant to point out.

I think based on how Margarito laughed at Cotto and Cintron's punches, and moved up and almost knocked out a Junior middleweight, gives him a good case for lasting the full 12 with the Hitman. Cotto and Cintron are both big punchers, and Margarito wasn't wobbled, hurt, or even phased by anything they threw.

I don't think Margarito gets knocked out.

Leonard never got KOed

 

I think the term granite is often used loosely. I will give Hearns credit for knocking out Cuevas and Duran, two steady chins, but by the same token he wasn't able to knockout Leonard. Leonard is a supreme fighter, but Hearns still landed a lot of shots in those 2 fights, so I think if Leonard can take them, Margarito can too.

I would actually question whetehr Tito would even beat Margarito in a fight let alone knock him out. Styles make fights, and Tito hits the canvas a lot of times and against lesser punchers than Margarito (Vargas).

 

I recall Margarito being hit on the temple and being wobbled slightly by the much bigger man, and at Junior Middleweight. I also recall Margarito almost stopping Santos in that fight also, who actually did the dance at one point. What's your point?

 

he was rocked by ****ing santos and cintron did make his knees buckle in the 1st fight. and did make him pause in the 2nd. ****ing hears durans this overated paleta selling MOFO out!:good and TITO puts him away in 8 or less. margo has a good solid chin but again hearns has cracked granite before .
