People say Marg is overrated which is true, but also he's underrated.
You might ask why would I say he's possibly underrated?!
Because everybody looks at Margarito TAKING PUNCHES. Not many people remember the fact he's THROWING/ LANDING PUNCHES!
Everybody makes it sound like if he fights Trinidad, or Hearns then all Marg is going to do is keep his hands to his side, and rush in with his face, and it's just some kind of game for Marg to test if he can possibly be knocked out or not.
This is NOT the way it happens in reality. In reality Marg is a big WW, he smothers his opponents, he has great endurance (throwing over 100 punches many rounds), has decent punching power, and on top of that A GREAT CHIN!
So, you guys are making it sound like Thomas Hearns vs Antonio Margarito is just one sided with Hearns doing all the punching, and you make it sound like Hearns is going to have 100% punching power in the 11th round as he did in the 1st because he took no punishment...

REALITY: Margarito pummels his opponents til they can't breath, and want to QUIT. He just breaks people down mentally, and physichally. You can be the baddest, hard hitting, skilled, SOB in boxing, but whenever you have a guy leaning on you, throwing unconventional punches, constantly coming, just taking everything you got/ giving you just as much back in return...It's hard to prepare for. The Margarito that I seen vs Cotto gives ANYBODY in boxing history a tough fight. I couldn't see anyone knocking him out because of the fact you'd have to knock him out in the first few rounds, and doubt it's possible with his good chin, great stamina. I believe in the later rounds a fresh man COULD knock him out, but after having say 800 punches thrown at you, and a good many connecting...There's no way your gonna have enough power to finish him off.
Even with the way he fought Cotto I agree he can be beaten. It's gonna take somebody who's as super mentally tough as he is physichally skilled. To knock him out though....It'd take ONE HELL OF A MAN AT 147!

VARGAS at 154 was a much better fighter then margo. he's even beaten better fighters in his short career. and Lenord was never ko'd tko'd lenord has a great chin and and margo would lose to tito at 147 and 154. if he fought the vargas that fought tito he would of lost.

It spells trouble for Trinidad who was knocked on his ass against Vargas. Margarito will be boring in for 12 rounds, throwing uppercuts and body shots all fight. It will get rough for Tito.

We'll agree to disagree, but I think Margarito see's the full 12 in a fight against Hearns and Trinidad at 147. :good

Judging from the Paul Williams fight, Margo would have problems with Hearns' reach. I don't see Margo taking Hearns' shots for 6 rounds and then pulling out the victory like he did with Cotto. I think Cintron's power is overrated.

On the same note your points are valid too so I guess we just have to agree to disagree.

I am going o go there! Margarito is taylor made for Tito Trinidad, Tito would be having fun out there before laying him on his back for the count.

I would bet my house on it even todays version of TITO.

hearns would land at will and out box him and was a much bigger Welter then margo . he can knock him cold early or out box and ko him before the distance you pick the round. and tiot at 154 would wear him out before he got wore out. tito would land and eventual get the KO in 8 or less .and tito is about the same size

If he lands that right hand clean, it's over. I don't care how good your chin is, there are limits on what a human being can take.

Tito would blast him out of there too, Marg is made for huge punchers, anyone who can really REALLY crack is a horrible matchup for him.
