Well fat toney did do well, but there are some differences. He moved up slowly over time, getting fatter and fatter till he was up there. He also used to be 200 back in highschool playing football (atleast that is the story) which means he has the frame for that weight. But also "an inshape hopkins" wouldnt be over 200. It would be crazy for him to do it now, maybe if he went slowly over time. Or he could go into the 190s and fight a shitty heavyweight, but he is too small to compete against the best.
No there was actually a point where it was being discussed, where he was seriously considering it. I think this was right after the tarver fight, when he first did well at 175. They were actually talking about maskev. Maskev is slow and maybe he seen somethings he could exploit but he also had some good power.
Hopkins is strong. He has almost always been the stronger man in the ring. And although he obviously is a very good boxer, his lack of output has been compensated with physical power. He couldnt do that against Taylor, and I don;t think he could in HW. But Im not totalyl sure.. I would like to see him try to emulate what Roy has done.
I didnt realize until the other week that the klitchko's have ALL 4 belts between them thats crazy. So yeah he aint beating any of the beltholders now
My bad. I remember seeing Wlad had 3 belts and Vitali 1. I didnt look close and assumed they were the 4 main belts. Wlad has: ~ IBF heavyweight title ~ ~ WBO heavyweight title ~ ~ IBO heavyweight title ~ Vitali - WBC Valuev - WBA I knew Valuev had a belt and lost a while back and didnt see he gotten one back. Maybe we will finally see Valuev against one of the klitchko brothers:think That would be good. Edit: How the **** did he get the WBA by fighting Ruiz again? How did Chagev loose the belt when he fought just in January?
yeah he's just as boring as the heavyweights like klitschko, great fighter but has a boring style in my oppinion
Like many others have intimated, I think he would be able to beat some of the mediocre heavies but would be too weak to match it with Vitali et al.
