If anyone is going to expose fragile chins it isn't Hopkins, the professional bore.

Hopkins has no power and his one punch then clinch John Ruiz type style isn't conducive to KO's either.

The least likely outcome of this fight is Hopkins winning by ko. It's just not happening.

I can absolutely see Hopkins landing that sneaky right-hand along with his patented accidental headbutts and elbows and maybe hurting Kovalev. Stopping him though? No.

Judging by the Attoev KO, Caparello knock-down and Agnew fight, Kovalev is more susceptible to the left hand.

I think Stevenson has a worse chin. He got KO'd by Boone, and floored by Fonfara.

I could be mistaken, but I thought Tua was dropped with a body shot in the amateurs? I recall this being mentioned probably around the time Byrd had Tua grunting the result of nice body work.

Tua didn't then taste canvas as pro against mediocre fighters early in his career like Kovalev has.

Bottom line - Kovalev has a suspect chin.:nod And while it's not likely that Hopkins will be the guy to expose it, it could happen.:deal

Zak, what is your normal scale for judging chins (such as a numerical value scale or the like)?

And what is your best estimation regarding the reality of where Kovalev fits in?

I don't think old man B-hop has what it takes to crack Kovalevs chin.... He couldn't take out Murat, Cloud, or Shumenov... He's not taking out Kovalev.

Right, so how may times has Kovalev been down as a PRO? Pretty much everyone gets shook at some point, especially in the heavier weights. Is that to say 99 percent of the boxing world has a glass jaw? Quite laughable really.

I think Kovalev will win, but it'll be closer than he expects. Hopkins is by far the most gifted boxer he's shared a ring with - even at this late stage of his career.

Its possible. I could imagine Hopkins jumping in with straight shots down the pipe and then holding, which could have an effect. Hopkins hurt Shumenov, but Kovalev can hit also and we have seen Hopkins hurt, like when he was on wobbly legs and put down by Mercado, when Echoles put him down, when Pascal put him down twice, when Hopkins took a knee against Calzaghe, when Hopkins fell out of the ring against Allen.
This is what makes it such a good exciting match up
