Suspect chin? Hopkins is going to expose his suspect skill. Remember B-Hop is FIFTY YEARS OLD.

I've been saying it since day 1.

Kovalev has a weak glass jaw and I truly believe if he fights Stevenson, Stevenson will expose it.

FFS he was knocked down by Boone, spark out by Attoev and down in his last fight.

He has some serious fking glass in that jaw and anyone can crack it.

Sorry man, didn't follow it that closely.

Like most people, I rank chins on a ten point scale. Somebody like Chuvalo would be a 10, Holyfield a 9, Lennox Lewis a 4, and Khan a 1

At this point, given that his mandible hasn't been cracked wide open (yes), but given also the fact that there are SERIOUS doubts about his ability to take a punch, I'd say 5. It could go up or down.

Don't get me wrong, Kovalev has suspect whiskers. But not proven glass, yet.

If B-Hop knocks down Sergei it will be due to accumulation, angles, timing and fatigue level. Plus his defense is too trick to get caught absolutely flush

Was it not you on another thread that rated Wards chin for the punch he got put down by from Boone?

I really can't notice Caparello stepping on his foot nor a low blow(the punch was right on the belt line), Kovalev is backing off and Caparello catches him clean which causes him to go down. If a clean punch didn't land he wouldn't have gone down. This is as clean as can be for a legitimate knockdown regardless of whether the fighter suffering the knockdown is seriously hurt or not.

Read my post again. I know that he doesn't aim for knockouts but this doesn't mean that he can't hurt, knock down or stun opponents as he has proven in almost all of his recent fights. Sure he doesn't aim for the KO but that doesn't mean he can't bang hard enough to discourage opponents.

It looked low to me. I'm talking about the second body shot not the first one.

He definitely stepped on his foot and that coupled with Kovalev being off balance because his feet were squared up as the punch landed resulted in him going over. Kovalev did the same thing in the Cornelius White fight, too. People were saying White hurt him but in actual fact he just got knocked slightly off balance by a stiff jab because his feet were squared up as he was trying to reset.

I've watched it again and can't really spot him stepping on his foot, though it's very possible and I'm just not able to properly catch it. I'm referring to the last body shot before the knockdown, it looked on the belt line to me, again I might be missing that as well. It was a solid body shot too, if it was low I'd expect Kovalev to react.

All speculation and different opinions aside, it definitely can't be considered a slip especially when a clean punch landed before he went down. One thing's for sure though and we will both easily agree on, Kovalev wasn't hurt. I would say stunned at best but definitely and clearly not hurt.

10.12 mark (on the inter round replay), Caparello kinda leaps forward and his foot lands on Kovalevs toe just as he throws. Kovalev tries to react but the foot on the toe slows him for just the fraction of a second it'd take to adjust his balance and brace himself.

There is a factor that Hopkins may be able to take advantage of if he has perfect timing, which is that Kovalev's mobility is in part predicated on him taking large steps - on a couple of occasions (vs White and Sillakh), he's come close to stumbling when he's been caught mid-step, he may not have been hurt, but a KDs a KD - risky strategy though.

You can clearly see that Caparello steps on his foot on this video. I think the reason Kovalev steps back after the body punch is because it was low. Caparello pounced on him immediately after that before he had time to reset himself. Like I said, he has a tendency to do that sometimes in fights - he steps back out of range and squares his feet up after attacking so he can reset himself to go again.

That's actually one of the things which concerns me about the Hopkins fight. Hopkins is the kind of person in a street fight who'd sucker punch you while you're taking your jacket off getting ready to fight. He's always looking to hit you when you least expect it and that's something Kovalev needs to be aware of. If he gets caught with a stupid shot like that while his trying to reset and goes down because he's off balance again, I'll be very disappointed with John David Jackson because it's something that he really should've have drummed into him not to do during preparation for this fight.
