Hopkins beat Calzaghe but was shamed by a low work-rate making the split decision easy to justify.

This fight should be consigned to the scrapheap of history. It was awful. Their styles don't meld well.

Had he been more aggresive he would have been tagged a lot more.

oh and anyone that scored that fight anything less than calzaghe 8 rounds to 4 is a straight up ******.

I liked the Bhop/Taylor fights and just like Taylor, Calzaghe didn't look effective to really pull off the W but it was clear during the fight that Hopkins was the smarter fighter. It's hard to look good against Hops unless ur a young RJJ but I hate scoring the Hopkins' fights with Taylor & Calzaghe. At least I enjoyed the Taylor fights. The Calzaghe/Hopkins fight wasn't good at all in my opinion.

probably would have won if he was more aggressive but the art of boxng is hit and dont be hit if you dont throw anything back it dont matter how could your defense is you will get outworked and i think the reason he wasnt aggressive enough is he couldnt match joes stamina hence why he faked the low blow i had joe outworking him most of the fight to win by 3 points

Hopkins did win but got stiffed. I guess the judges liked Joe's slaps.
Nard was treated unfairly in both Taylor fights too:patsch

No. Hopkins would have lost by more if he was more agressive. A more agressive Hopkins, by the later rounds, would been the recipient of a sustained sloppy drum solo on all parts of his body.

Possibly but he doesn't fight like that any more! I gave Hopkins 3 rounds in the fight. It was not close! I just wish Hopkins would go away:hi:

    He was old and tired.

I had Hopkins winning the fight, but it was a pain in the ass to score. Joe was coming forward throwing a lot of punches but they were not landing, Bernard was controling the fight well, using range and evaded everything Joe threw and landed the cleaner punches, but his workrate was very low. It was a close fight, but if Hopkins workrate was higher he would have run away with it.

No ****, why do you think Joe wanted the fight in the first place. This fight gave a perfect insight in to how easily Joe's style would be negated back in the day.

This fight will be debated forever. If Hopkins was more aggressive and had the gas in the tank, he wins. Even as a Hopkins fan, I dont think he had that in the tank. Instead, ineffective aggression won vs effective, close to non-aggression.
