I gave the decision to Calzaghe 114-113. But B-HOP managed to lose, he was tired and wasn't able to keep the pace (agressiveness was huge against a fighter like Calzaghe) and also he tought he was winning, too. So, yes he would have won if he was more agressive.

This thread is about a fight that was more of a fight out of the ring, then in it? That was easily Joe's most dull fight and one of Hopkin's shittiest displays. And Joe did win 115-112 from what I saw, though you'd have to pay me to watch that one again.

Hopkins let the win slip away from him, and I think it had more to do with ego than anything else, look at his pitiful acting he thinks he can get away with anything. Hops is great fighter but loves himself just a little too much.
On the other hand if he stepped it up Joe just might have lifted a gear too, his stamina is pretty good.
I scored the fight for Joe, but he only just scraped through, and don't dispute those who scored it for Hops, but for me he just didn't do enough, but only just.

A guy I know says that the reason Hopkins has started losing fights late in his career is that he thinks he is always winning and way ahead in the cards. After the Calzaghe fight he really thought he got robbed. But, who knows. Maybe Calzaghe could have done more too If he had to.

I gave it to Calzaghe, even if Hopkins had been more aggresive that plays right into Calzaghe's hands.

Calzaghe preferred boxers who were prepared to come forward and fight. Hopkins ran, cheated and stank the ****ing place out.

Hopkins was completely gassed, it was all he could do to coast to the finish line.

That is credit to Calzaghe, because Hopkins' overall stamina was still fairly decent as evidenced against Tarver, Wright and Pavlik. Calzaghe is a different kettle of fish however, and was all Hopkins could do to stay with him. He had to start faking injuries to buy time just to do that.

Hopkins could have thrown caution to the wind and gone for it knowing he wouldn't then make it to the end of the fight. Most likely that would have resulted in him being stopped. He instead chose to make the finish line and hope a couple of the judges went for his very inermittent clean work over Calzaghe's consistent less eye catching work.

Whoa no need for Hopkins bashing lol. They both looked bad that night in a shitty fight but both of their careers make up for it. Calzaghe for beating Kessler and Hopkins for beating Pavlik after his fight with Joe. He could only perform to his body's limits so if grandpa wants a breather so be it lol. He's no spring chicken.

Give over, Hopkins did not win the fight. He tried every trick in the book to cheat his way to the win and he still lost!

Of course not. He would have gassed and been beaten worse as Calzage would have poured it on once Hopkins was tired.

I had Hopkins the winner but people are pretty divided on this fight. Both guys fought pretty much as they always do.If Hopkins had been more aggresive yes he would have won but i think it may have been that he just could not do that because Joe would not give him chance. He is never very agressive and both guys can be boring to watch.

Calzaghe will never get his dues when it comes to this fight which I gave to Calzaghe but close.

'I thought Hopkins won', fair enough, but very few of you guys actually concede it could have gone either way, you speak like he was robbed and most give Calzaghe no credit.

Anyways if Hopkins was more agressive he'd have been more gassed in the later rounds and would have been embarassed down the stretch.
