I think Ruiz beats him at his game.

Oh my God! What a boring fight that would be!
BUt to answer the question: NO.
Hopkins style of fight would make it harder for him to win.

I think the same thing, RJ could beat Ruiz to the punch b/c of his handspeed, and his footspeed.
Hopkins vs Ruiz would b thee most boring drawn out fight in history.
ANd Ruiz would eventually tire hopkins out from leaning on him all night. Ruiz didnt get the chance 2 do that 2 RJ b/c he moved around. Hopkins likes 2 clinch so IDK

Hopkins dirty clinching style would not work in this instance. Ruiz is indeed extremely limited, but he is physically strong and has good pop in his right hand off the clinches. I think people seem to forget that Calzaghe's surprising physical strength was frustrating Hopkins, and that was at 170. I seriously doubt he would be able to impose his will on the inside against a wrestler like Ruiz.

If he beat him it would be in a completely different way and I'm not sure Hopkins could pull it off.

He'd be a smaller version of Toney - counterpunching, living on the ropes, and shoulder rolling. But unless he has Toney's granite head, counterpunching with a legitimate heavyweight would be very dangerous.

Hopkins would have lost to Ruiz the clinch game is all Ruiz, Hopkins does well in the clinch but its only effective towards little guys Ruiz would be too much for Bernard no way would he find a way to beat Ruiz.

This would be one UGLY fight! He wouldn't school Ruiz like Jones, but he may be able to pull off a close decision.

What, do you mean punch, clinch and run for 12 rounds? Hopkins'd do the punch and clinch, but he probably wouldn't run. However, he may not be fast enough to avoid Ruiz, whose size would give him a good chance of a KO if he could land any decent punches.

RJJ's defeat of Ruiz was a great feat, but it couldn't have been done against many other HWs. Ruiz was taylor made stylistically for RJJ.

Hopkins style wise would be at a pretty big disadvantage..but you can never really count Hopkins out against anyone.

I think he'd lose a razor close decision.
