Could I have some critique of a round of heavybag work?

I really don't like talking about my injuries because I hear it all the time. I'd rather just focus on what I can do to improve.

You've goa full thread of people telling you how to improve....but as I predicted, you come back with stupid answers as to why you're boxing like a Flid. Instead of saying "cheers lads I'll try and work on that" or maybe "oh yeah I see what you mean, I do make that mistake"

Stop asking for help and critique, then trying to justify **** technique.

When did I try and justify **** technique? I was explaining why I was doing it when people were asking, not justifying it. And I did thank people who tried to help me. Maybe not in every single post, but believe me, I'm definitely listening...

Anyways, I made a couple vids today trying to improve on a few things (specifically not "pushing" my rear hand when jabbing). In one of the vids, I had to stay relatively still, because the lady in the blue kept using the bands to run basically right into my bag in previous rounds, so I had to keep stopping it to not hit them, and I was doing solely jabs. I also tried to film one of my jump roping rounds in between my boxing rounds, to maybe get some critique on how I could improve my footwork on that, but I didn't realize I was halfway out of the picture, haha.

Looking for constructive criticism. Thanks in advance! I really am just trying to get better, no matter how long it may take, and no matter how bad I may be at the moment. Everyone starts somewhere.

First, don't lean your weight up onto your right foot when you jab. There a couple reasons for that. One, you cant' move and jab with your weight there, so it is easier to counter you, and counter you hard as you lean in. Two, it makes it very hard to throw a proper 1-2, because your weight is already up there. You aren't transfering it on the "2". Watch the video and you'll see.
Second, when you throw the right foot the weight has to end up on your left foot, so you can follow up with a left hand.
Third, the guy in the video you posted way back, about how throwing the jab, or whatever he was on about, is incorrect. Holding your glove that way will not stop stop the elbow from flaring out when you jab. It will keep you from turning your shoulder into your jab, and from extending that all the way out. If you want to break the habit of flaring your elbow when you jab, try this...Stand next to a wall, real close on your right side. Move forward and back, jabbing everytime when your right foot moves (going forward), when your left foot moves going back. If you flare your elbow, it will hit the wall. This will break that habit.

I'll try and see how I can improve it, but when throwing the jab and stepping, I feel completely balanced. I'm probably not, but I don't feel like I'm putting more pressure on either foot.

And thanks for the wall tip. I think that not flairing my elbow when jabbing is probably the only one thing that I probably do right, but I want to keep it that way, and I want to always be improving my jab. Will definitely start doing that drill every day!

i noticed you haven't been turning your whole body into your straight left. You should step in more and turn your body to generate power for that punch; it should be your most powerful punch. And don't drop the right hand after the hook, pull it straight back to your face after you throw it.

Yea, your left cross needs a lot of work based on the above posts.

    Just to summarize:
    - leaning too much on lead leg.
    - no weight transfer.
    - Minimal hip/shoulder rotation.

^Thanks. Any tips on the jab? Since almost everyone will agree it's the "bread and butter" of boxing, I want to master the jab.

Jabs are awesome...there was this guy who always gave me problems in sparring. He'd overwhelm me with combinations and he'd constantly be sidestepping or moving in and out.

I was clearly getting frustrated. During the break my old trainer advised me that whenever I'm in trouble to just throw the jab. I tried it and lo and behold, that ****er can't even string punches together anymore to save his life.

Now, whenever I'm in trouble I throw the old left jab out there.
    police troubles...left-jab.
    girlfriend troubles...left-jab.
******* at the grocery store parking lot...left-jab.

    Jabs, they're a lifesaver! :good

As a southpaw your jab is probably your least important punch. Unless you're fighting a southpaw.

Really? Never heard that before. When I was at a gym, my coach told me to jab often on the bags to get into the habit.
