Could Ibragimov be the hardest opponent Wladimir has faced in years?

    I agree.

He's good at most every aspect of boxing.

I think he has dcent/good power, fast hands, good stamina, and a good workrate. Certainly going to be one of the better all around fighters Wlad has faced, yes.

Sultan is smaller - but that fast left down the pipe is designed for Wlad:yep

I also think he could lose a close-ish decision fighting in a similar fashion to how Brock did in the first few rounds.

As a fan though I 'd like to see Sultan comeout and fight the way he did against Whittaker (who is bigger taller and has a longer reach than Wlad, ableit half the fighter) - it could well end in his own KO but I'm sure he has the speed and pop to send Wlado onto autopilot (ie panic attack time).

Do you see a lot of 40 year old men with their clothes off?

Since I'm not gay, I'm more concerned with how a boxer fights than how good he looks.

Agreed. I'm only interested if i think its an indication of the sort of condition he's in and how it will effect his performance (like James Toney or Vargas) - with Sultan he has always looked like that, it doesn't matter.

Iggy will be Wlads biggest test since Peter in Sept of 05, Iggy has good overall boxing skills, with great foot work. He however he does not possess the aggresion or the power to give Wlad the type of fight the fans deserve to see in a unification fight. I just hope Iggy fights like a man and not run all night and get caught with a big right and the fight is over, I rather see Iggy blitz him and go for the gusto early.

Sultan will be Wlads toughest opponent since Peter. He is better than Brock and the versions of Brewster and Byrd that Wlad faced. Sultan might make a decent fight of this but I don't expect him to see the final bell.

    Dear Smokin,
First of all, Wlad smoked Brew and Brew was fine with the eye. No excuses.
Secondly, Sultan may make some pops. If he counterpunches, he may stagger Wlad and him and put him in danger.
Thirdly, Wlad gets clocked and and knocked down but--unlike previous vulnerabilities-- comes back strong and KO's Sultan.
    = new Wlad.

If Wlad goes into one of his famous panic attacks, Iggy will finish him IMO. Wlad may be a good skilled big fighter, but his chin is extremely weak, if Iggy can catch Wlad with a decent punch, Iggy will have Wlad going down more than OklahomaHoss at a gay pride march.:yep

Then if that's the case, why didn't he fall over like a pile of sh*t when the supposed Liston like punching Peter clocked him, FLUSH at least five times in theri fight?

And don't say he didn't catch him flush, cause he damned well did. Round five comes to mind as the first example for you to review.

    :good

His punch tolerance is NOWHERE near as bad as the little back and forth haters like to say, every chance they get. :-(

Ibragimov would have had a chance against the pre Steward Wlad, but not now. Wlad to wear him down and win by TKO late on.

If Sultan is gutsy enough to try and mix it up with Wlad, Wlad may KO him in the first three rounds.

But I see Sultan running like he's never ran before, and only occassionally sneaking in to counter, at a precise timed swarm, then quickly sliding back out, again, and resuming his running.

But you know, that's just crazy enough to work? LOL

Heavyrighthand, I said Wlad was a good, skilled big man. Every fighters has a weakness, and for Wlad it's his weak chin. I think I have already went over the stats on Wlad to back up my arguement, he's been down 11 times by 6 different oppenents, and also TKO'd 3 times.

Peter did hurt Wlad, but to Wlads credit he learned how to clinch under the watchful eye of Manny Steward, which helped him get through some dangerous rounds, but Peter still managed to floor him 3 times, for a 25 yearold Peter to give Wlad such a hard time in the ring so early in his career, I feel speaks volumes about how good Sam Peter could possibly be in the future.

Ibragimov will be a better test for Wlad but Peter was a decent opponent too.

    1) Brewster's eye had already healed. No excuses. If you analyze the film, you will notice no difference with the 2004 Brewster. His weight was also almost exactly the same.

    2) It is true that Austin was ****. But the IBF told Wlad to fight him or he would be stripped.

    3) Calvin Brock was nothing special, just a decent contender.

    4) Wlad beat Byrd twice. Byrd is one of the most relevant fighters of this era (probably the 3rd or 4th). He was in the Top3 of the division for 5 years. A good opponent.

    5) Eliseo Castillo. I agree that he was there to get sacrificed.

    6) I think Peter will beat Maskaev and prove that he's a notable contender. Wlad showed a lot of heart by taking that fight in that moment and then he should even more courage in the fight.

Other guys that Wlad beat: Schulz, McCline, Barrett, Botha, TOS.
