I think Inoue won that one 116-111, Donaire was excellent given his age but Inoue was in control for most of the time.

Yep. Haymakers made it look worse for Inoue than it really was.

Hang on a sec, Inoue is going through more stacked divisions already!

I'd argue Inoue is already better.

Inoue's a 3 weight champion, and won the WBSS.

Donaire is better than anyone Lopez fought.

Pretty much agree with you on that. Technically he's already done things that are, in my opinion, much better than Lopez. The only thing that Lopez has over Inoue is 21 title defenses.
Again, this is coming from someone who is a fan of Finito but hates how people overrate his achievements, praises him to the high heavens and believes he's this perfect boxer that couldn't be beat. I'd compare Finito's career to that of GGG, but without the loss. He just never dared to be greater despite his beautiful boxing skills.

And what, he was born an ATG? He received his ATG card the moment he stepped into the ring?

What sort of argument is that?

Yes he 100% could be better and more accomplished than Lopez. Just because you think Lopez is better too watch doesn’t mean Inoue would never be on his level. You can already make a case for Inoue being greater. There’s been some pretty ridiculous posts on this thread.

Youre expecting too much outta a group of guys who have a very limited grasp of the sport, its not like on Classic.

Posters on General just grasp at names. They go, "Ricardo Lopez! I've heard of that guy! They say he was legendary, so he must have been the GOAT little guy."

"Eder Jofre? Miguel Canto? Fighting Harada? Who are they??"

Fair enough. But even within his weight RANGE, its highly questionable if he was better than guys like Roman Gonzalez, and Jung Koo Chang.

I fully expect Inoue to surpass Lopez by of his career. Lopez, as beautiful a boxer he was has a poor resume (mainly due to the weight he fought at) and didnt take any risks on moving up past light fly where big fights with Gonzalez, Carbojal, Woo Yuh, Cherchai etc were until it was too late and the fights were gone.

Inoue has already done three weights and will likely do more. Theres bigger fights for him and he already has bigger names on his resume than Lopez already.

Lopez is a joy to watch but he mostly kept in his lane. Inoue, already a three-weight champ, may go up again and fight Emmanuel Navarrete who is huge by comparison. Naoya's defence could be tighter, yes, and he could slip more, but he's a super talent.

In a virus-free 2020 I believe he would have demolished Casimero, and then, we may have got the Navarrete showdown at 122lbs.

Had he won that, he'd end the year P4P #1.

Having a win over Donaire already puts you ahead of Finito. All he needs to do is clear out BW and Super BW and he's a lock of being one of the best small men.
