    Sure, but Firpo was not close to Lyle's skill and as for Morris, none of us can say.

    If I were Lyle, even for Jack Dempsey, I'd be like "No glove, no love, baby." and I wouldn't even go out with him. But not two gloves. Just one. He could take me out with the agreement of one glove. Ribbed.

    The legend overshadows the fighter in Jacks case- He is more folklore then a great champion a character to revere indeed.

    I wouldn’t favour Jack over a lot of largely forgotten fighters by the masses- Willard, Firpo and the like including Tunney were not anything to note since the change of the sport- I think it’s best to look at there sort differently and match them with fighters of about the same era.
