Jack Sharkey when he was on form, would honestly have been a handful for anybody.

That is how talented he was.

Just a shame that he did not have a cooler head on his shoulders.

They say he was past it when he fought Louis. How would a circa 1927 Sharkey have performed against Louis?

When his head was screwed on he could have given him fits.

Doubtless Louis would have got him eventually, but it could have been a much more interesting fight.

Right. Others like Peter, and Wach landed there best, it took more than one punch to floor Wlad for the most part, and usually only the big punchers could do it.

I really like Sharkey he had a high ceiling. Very athletic and agile fighter. And a slightly underrated puncher given his low ko percentage. He also has the resume for an old time fighter that says he could fare well against bigger men- wins over Wills, Godfrey and Carnera.
However Wlad is a better athlete and technical boxer than all 3 of those men. And he always dominated smaller fighters. Never mind a barely over 200lb if that Sharkey.
Sharkey gets rag dolled and is out of the ring by the 5th. Only because Wlad was so cautious as champion.
    Mismatch imo

Great post McVey...what I have highlighted is something that I've argued for years...and that Primo's damaged ankle actually saved him from getting really clobbered by Baer. Primo was going down from grazing punches by Baer...almost from the wind generated by those grazing near misses. A real, live shot from Baer, like the first kd, or a punch similar to the one he decked Schmeling with would have truly ko'ed Carnera IMO.

Few find you accurate. Your never ending agenda however is still quite clear. I have not seen Dino in a while, the torch for all I know has been passed to you. Actually I do find some of your statements somewhat funny.
For example, Jack Sharkey by early round KO! :dogpile:

A light breeze could floor Wlad. At some points in his career his confidence was so low he would panick and almost fall over even if an opponent just came close to hitting him, didn't have to be a flush shot.
His chin wasn't that bad, his defensive instincts when under fire were terrible though until later in his career
