You can't beat a john Wayne film. However, I tend to think People with low self-esteem are less inclined to apologise.

Walcott could beat any of them or lose to any of them.

I think he could. He lost to lesser fighters.

Walcott was an amazing fighter. Yes he suffered a few losses early on but his living conditions didn't help that. There were times, like dempsey before him , where he would have to train and fight on a empty stomach. But by the time his financial situation had changed and he had picked up ton of experience from fighting all styles, he was near enough the perfect fighter. He was unlucky enough to be challenging Joe Louis, even though Louis was slowing down, but still gave him two very difficult fight s and dropping him several times. He then had to face a ATG in Charles, in which he drew with him 2-2. He then gave marciano the hardest fight of his career. So I believe a prime, well conditioned Walcott could beat the big 4 on his best day. Against schmeling and baer he'd have to fight like the fight marciano bout imo, Carnera and sharkey would have to catch him on a bad day to beat him but I see Walcott ko ing them both.

The Walcott of 1946-1952 destroys Carnera, outclasses Baer, outboxes Sharkey

    Schmeling Walcott is 50-50

Walcott would seriously embarrass carnera, carnera would be lucky to win one round...and he didn't have the punching skills of a Louis or Marciano to catch a peak Walcott. Walcott also had the power to seriously buzz carnera

Please stop bringing up the Abe Simon fight. Walcott took that fight on late notice, and hadn't trained for it since he was not a full time fighter with a training schedule. Walcott improved tremendously during his second comeback in 1945, where he was given a salary where he could box full time. He was afforded a full time trainer , training schedule, plenty of food on the table.

Walcott beats all 4 in my book with Schmeling giving him his toughest fight.

Yeah, Walcott beats all four with Schmeling being the only one I wouldn't bet on.

my take is Walcott is simply better than Carnera and Sharkey. Baer has a puncher's chance, but I think Walcott outboxes him. Schmeling was right there in front of Baer. Walcott will be moving around. If Louis found him hard to hit, I think Baer certainly will, and Baer lost more often than not to boxers. Schmeling I see as a 50/50 fight. If pushed to the wall, I give Walcott the whisker edge, mainly because he has so many more tactical options. He could come after Schmeling or box and move or some combination. I think Schmeling basically has to fight one way.
