He’d beat most the second tier HWs. Meaning everyone who isn’t AJ or Wilder.

He’d put on a good 30lb, and augment his naturally strong frame from a meek athlete, into a small modern HW
He’d handle Ortiz, Parker, Whyte, Breazeale, Martin, etc imo.

He would look akin to a HW Josh Kelly.

Key word is TODAY. My answer is yes, he could out box either Wilder or Parker. I'd picture Corbett fill out to 205-210 pounds today. The limitation to 12 rounds might actually help him. Corbett was very hard to catch up to or catch cleanly with a punch. He has cat quick reflexes, and can be rough in the clinches if needed.

I could see him bulking up 20 pounds or so and becoming a full-grown cruiserweight. And he'd still have a steep learning curve dealing with modern boxers who are bigger, more skilled, and better trained than the men he fought. Heavy would probably be a couple bridges too far. Top modern heavies would punish him, either stopping him early or --if he stays on his bike and runs the whole fight--outpointing him en route to wide UDs (the only way he survives against someone like Ortiz, Parker, or Wilder).

He really doesn't have much of a resume to extrapolate such grandiose achievements. We probably wouldn't even know his name.

Did somebody say Joe Louis' defense was better than Johnson's... That was a hoot

He isnt allowed to do so the OP is taking him as he actually was! Corbett couldn't handle a crude face first brawler like Sharkey. He was ko'd with one body shot from a man scaling 157lbs! Corbett has about the shallowest resume of any heavyweight champion!

I have asked his boosters repeatedly to show what were his best wins ,this has been met with deafening silence!"

I think his point was that it's much harder to defend against the type of modern offensive repertoires that Louis would have encountered than the type of attacks Johnson faced.

Yes, it really is and you can ask the question in any gym and get the same answer. It is something you need to be taught, practice and learn. Because, for example, you have to know the opportunity that is going to be created before you feint, and the punch you are going to throw to take advantage of the opening, before you feint. And you are just feinting with "the left and throwing the right." You feint with your feet, your head, your shoulders, your whole body. A friend that sparred Emile Griffith told me how he feinted with his eyes.

There are currently no belts for thong wearing pansies, so no, he wouldn't have a championship belt.

But the WBO could possibly come up with an "Interim Silver Pansy Thong Belt" for Gentleman Jim.
    And I do mean Gentleman.

I know exactly what he was saying, and no, Louis' defense wasn't better than Johnson's, no matter the extrapolation trying to be made there. It simply isn't so.

The key word is could he? I say yes he can at 188-190 pounds. Are you saying absolutely no for the record? Also, back then fighters trained down weight for stamina. With just 12 rounds, Corbett could afford to be heavier.

Quick defensive boxers with a solid chin, as Corbett had can out point a mediocre big guys like Wilder is, or Parker looks to be.

I think Corbett shows better foot and hand speed than Chris Byrd, who was competitive with better big guys than Parker or Wilder.

The footage of Corbett is of variable quality, but the best shows you a lot that the worst doesn't.

He was a highly unorthodox fighter, by the standards of either era, but he was obviously very elusive.

The guy basically feinted with every part of his body at once.

He was like a more slippery version of Jimmy Slatterey.

It is not difficult to see why he clowned a lot of people, and I would expect him to have some success today.
