Also; probably could win a title somewhere under cruiserweight if he really did have bewildering speed and a high boxing IQ. Corbett definitely was springy at 60 when he sparred Tunney who was one of his most prominent appraisers.

If I could give one piece of advice to my younger self, it would be to record every source that I ever quoted.

    I will have a look.

What sells it for me and should sell it for others is that at his weight for a time he was the best boxer in the world of course he could win a title at 168lbs-175lbs. Perhaps he does as well as a Toney at the open weight - he was a slick athletic boxer, perhaps he’d do a Jones for a lesser title, I do believe however the smaller length fights of today would benefit Corbett tremendously.

Could Jim Corbett win a professional title today?

Let's start by looking at his options.

Four versions of the title, and perhaps a fifth that some might take vaguely seriously.

He can compete for any of those four versions of the title, at 168, 175, 200, or higher.

He can basically target any plane of weakness, in any of those divisions.

Nothing to stop him from taking the easy road to a title, by fighting weak opposition.

On top of that he is a white American, and a charming manipulator.

He is almost certainly dominating ever press conference, and charming the people who run the sport.

I suspect that not only woudl he win a title today, but he woudl also get offers in MMA, and perhaps even go into politics.

If he really was the equal of Tunney with regard to brains and had ridiculous speed, then I can't count him out of any title picture under cruiser

If he was as smart as Tunney he’d make all the heavyweights today look down right silly, I doubt his management would want to risk it however. Artur could do great at 200lbs+ but why risk it?
