That's because barely anyone went the distance with Tyson and he stopped numerous fighters very early that's a positive not a negative.

I don't see what the number of rounds have to do with anything in regards to ratings. You have some very bizarre takes theres no one in their right mind who would rate Young over Tyson in regards to H2H ability or career wise.

Young isn't even a top 20 Heavyweight most boxing fans have Tyson in their top 10 Heavyweights of all time.

I'm talking career longevity. Tyson didn't fight very much after 90 even though he was nominally around a long time.

Yeah because they are wrong and because Tyson is a pop culture icon while Jimmy Young is not. I'm also not a Holyfield guy.

No they're not wrong Tyson has one of the most impressive runs ever going 37-0 in the 80s.

As for longevity ? Tyson won a world title at aged 30 Young was losing to Ossie Ocasio at the same age. Young in the 80s was basically a stepping stone for upcoming prospects and almost had a losing record in that decade.

The longevity argument only works if you're successful like Hopkins for example. Young was a journeyman in the 80s and didn't do anything of note, I don't see how losing consistently is a good argument for longevity infact it's the opposite.

Tyson at that time fought on average once or twice a month. There is no way to shine at this intensity in every fight. He was still developing, developing very quickly, but his performance must have been weaker because he was not a robot or a character from a computer game. Green is not considered a better boxer than the slightly underrated Marvis Frazier, but he fared much worse. Style makes a fight, but there is no reason to believe that Jimmy Young didn't particularly suit Tyson. Rope deflections would not be effective against a bodypuncher. It's a bit like if I picked a fight with Ocassio or Cooney and said that Young should fight Tyson from Spinks and said it was prime vs prime. It wouldn't be fair.
