I doubt he would even take the count.

He would probably just wince a bit and then continue landing on Foreman at will.

agreed. A cumbersome big target who lacked the ability to avoid punches would be a treat for Louis. That is providing Joe can get outta the first 3 rounds alive, which I think he would.

I think Joe Louis would beat Foreman to the punch over and over again until Foreman could no longer continue. He would get in between Foreman's swings with his pin-point straight punches and find Foreman's chin practically at will. It would be Louis' accuracy, speed and straight punching that would win him this fight, by TKO. Or maybe Foreman blows Louis out in one round? Who knows? Not me.

 

Except Ron Lyle who was a hair away from doing so, the same Lyle who never really KO'd anyone of note outside of Shavers, who in turn has several stoppages to mediocre fighters. You'll probably say that Foreman was past his prime, but he was the undestructible Foreman only a year before that, plus it was a slugfest, not a technical fight like the Young or a mental one, like the Ali match.

 

I'd pick Dempsey and Liston both to beat Foreman in a brawl.

 

Joe would come to fight. George never backs up.

Joe won't go to the ropes like Ali did and bounce around like a rubber band.

The ultimate George of Frazier & Norton can win. The "Lyle George" Louis would stop.

Louis, the better overall fighter, is a 6/5 favorite.

I've stated my opinion on this one in detail often enough, but I'm puzzled why people think that (a) Foreman had major one-punch KO power in his prime and (b) Louis was the kind of boxer who could be KO'd by one punch. What basis is there for either assertion? When did Louis become Floyd Patterson in the minds of many people? When did Foreman become more than a clubbing brawler in his prime?

The difference is George's Dutch-dike-porous Mummy defense and Louis' accurate punching. CRUNCH! It's the Baer affair all over again.

Louis was savvy enough to use movement to deflect the full impact of Foreman's clubs and counter away.

Louis is more complete and should win by stoppage.
