Based from what you’ve seen of Linares as of lately could he actually pose a threat for someone like Loma? He has the height and reach advantage, good boxing skills, and speed and combinations that can match Loma. The things that Loma can exploit are Linares’ paper skin, defensive flaws, and Linares’ tendencies to take a round off. This is the match up I would really like to see later this year. Unlike the Rigondeaux fight, a fight with Linares might potentially be a challenge for Loma and could actually live up to the high class chess match that boxing purists have been wanting to see.
Linares is the one who can keep up with the angles and feints. One of the best fights to make this year.
I'm actually thinking that this is a fight that Lomachenko could very well lose... Linares throws blazing fast, beautiful combos w/ decent pop. Gesta was iron-jawed.
I would say Linares is maybe more dangerous for Lomachenko than Garcia. At least I understand how Loma can win against Mikey, but with Linares it's much more trickier.
Speed and combos and educated pressure will mess with Lomachenko... That's why I think Lomachenko would style all over Mikey, but he could very well lose to Pac and Linares.
Loma beats him because there is no one out there who can beat him in and around his weight right now but in Linares he would be facing his best opponent to date. He is vastly underrated because he still suffers from the stigma of the 3 mid career losses which pundits refuse to let him live down. That was years ago when he was going through a tough psychological period in his life. He is a 3 weight champion and is one of the most technically gifted fighters in the game. People take it for granted that Garcia goes through Linares but I would pick him to win that fight. Styles makes fights and one thing for sure for sure is Loma would have harder time against Linares than he would against Garcia. Linares can put in ordinary performances at times but he would be well up for a fight with Loma which would make for a great fight. I get the feeling that we will get to see just how good Loma is but Linares will lose nothing with a creditable loss.
