Could Julian Jackson have come close to denting Hagler's whiskers?

Top ten all time puncher vs top ten all time chins. Any chance at all for Jackson?

No i remember watching a documentary about the Hearns Hagler fight and Hearns said he hit Hagler with all he had and Hagler kept on coming and there's a clip in slow motion of Hearns hitting him with a crushing punch and Hagler didn't even react just carried on punching. I don't think Jackson could have done it and Hagler would outbox him for a few rounds and then knock him out IMO.

Maybe if he had the skills.

    A strong livershot?
Yes, nobody can stand that, unless he tightens his belly muscles, but then it is only a matter of time.

One thing I know for sure is that Hagler would've won by KO.

Marvin may be briefly shook up by a punch or two from Julian. He'd soak it up though, like he did with Hearns power shots, and stop him in the early/middle rounds of a one sided fight.

Sure, Jackson could stun Hagler early on, but Hagler takes the power well and comes back to KO Jackson inside 6 rds at 160 pounds..... Hagler is top-5 all-time at 160, where as Jackson is / was simply good....

Here goes ESB once again imparting superhuman powers to a popular fan favorite..admittedly a great fan favorite. Superhuman powers....Hagler had a great chin, and he would have stopped Julian Jackson if they ever fought, but if he were caught cold.. by a prime shot by Jackson, he too would go down and possibly out. ANY MAN can be knocked out by the right shot thrown at the right time under the right circumstances. Hagler was of course too good to allow that to happen vs a lesser fighter such as Jackson.

He could possible hurt him to the body but not to the chin, if bombers like Hearns and Mugabi couldn't then i doubt Jackson would either

Jackson could stun any 154/160 lb'er that ever walked the earth.

Hearns is entirely hit or miss above 154. His power didn't go up with him.

Why are people so obsessed with chins? Its creepy as hell. Yes Hagler had a great beard on em but if you just admire that then you aren't a true boxing fan. It was his pure boxing which should be admired first and foremost and especially his jab and footwork. Ya win by landing punches not taking em.

BTW, I think JJ and Mcclellan come the closest to putting a dent to his chin but still. The beauty of boxing is skill involved such as outboxing and defense. Any man can be out cold at any given time so its up to the greats and greats of the moment to find ways for that not to happen. Rather be a "cowardly fighter refusing to trade that much"(to the dumb so-called fans) than a brave idiot unconsious anyday.

People tend to rate on how well you take punches instead of how well you avoid them.
You hear people say:"did you see how well he took that punch"
But you never hear anyone say:"Did you see how well he dodged that shot" or parried for that matter.

When people admire George Chuvalo it is always for his chin, never his excellent defence.
