When did he say that? I know Jim Rosenthal said he'd like to spar with PBF.

Khan said it in an interview shortly after the Limond fight. Somebody here posted a link to it.

I am pretty sure he said he was equal to anyone in a four round contest not that he would outbox prettyboy.

I remember this as 'Kerrminator' posted it in my Khan - World Champion within 5 fights? thread.

Apparently it was around the time of his 7th pro fight and Khan was quoted as saying "Talent wise I am already one of the best fighters in the world over 4 rounds. I would love to have 4 rounds with Mayweather. I am as quick if not quicker than him and I can sustain a fast pace non stop".

Yeah agreed, give it a rest. Khan said that as an 18 or 19 yr old kid , a newbie to Pro boxing, who was coming fresh off the Olympics and had tremendous self belief.

That is nothing more than a typical naivity of a kid that age but whats more pathetic and sad is people on this forum bashing Khan for that even 2 years later.

Its not just those comments though, is it?

He continuosly disses other fighters and then takes on light punchers from naturally lower weights. Fair enough if he backs up his words but so far his mouth is writing cheques that his talent cant cash.

What are you refering to when you say dissing other fighters?

But you and I know making fights is a lot more complext than simply two fighters agreeing to fight. Theres the money, timing, promotion and all others aspects.

He said he would fight Earl and he did. Hes saying he wants to fight Thaxton to prove a point that hes best LW in Britain. Cetrainly Thaxton is the one not backing his words with his "I'll fight Khan for free" and then rejecting career high over 100K offer.

Surley your memory isnt that short? I remember him sending a message out to all his domestic opposition saying fight me now before its too late as I will be too elite for you all soon (or somehing along those lines).... then he fought Steffy Bull or someone similar. Shortly after Murray offered him a fight in Vegas and the silence from Amir was deafening

The guys a grade A twat.

He would want to fight murray why? He has hardly looked impressive in alot of his fights and dosn't really look half as good as kahn.

Bull doesnt look much either but he fought him :?

Murray would likely have beaten everyone Khan has faced so far too.

Sooner or later he will have to take a risk and then we will get a chance to see what he's made of. (even the most blinded fanboy cannot be fooled by a career full of light punchers)

Saying it and doing it are two different things.

Recall Khan called Thaxton out last month suggesting he couldn't break an egg, three days later his fight with the dane was announced, he was then withdrawn from purse bids and appears to have turned down an offer of £400,000 from Thaxton's promoter.

Yet Thaxton is the one not backing his words? :huh

Yes that was wrong if indeed those were his words, but egg breaking interview stuff didnt seem like be coming from Khan.

Yeah 400K offer with a 50/50 split. Thaxton is not the draw remember and Amir doesnt need Thaxton for his career. Thaxton should've just taken the offer £100,000 offer. Regardless, St. Clair is a much better opponent than the Dane or Thaxton.

Khan is a very marketable boxer so in that respect I agree Thaxton may not be the draw. However, the fact remains that he IS the British Champion and that in itself makes him a bit more deserving of some respect.

The guy has been boxing professionally for over 15 years and I find it a little distasteful when I read a 21 year old guy saying "Thaxton is just another guy who wants a a big payday - I'm the biggest he could possibly get in his whole career and I'm going to give him the chance" (source boxing scene. com). Even if thats the case I think Khan really should leave that sort of talk about giving more experienced fighters big paydays to his promoter rather than rubbing Thaxtons nose in it at every opportunity.

As for Thaxton just taking the £100,000 alleged offer - I think it is unfair that any boxer should be bullied into selling themselves short or agreeing to other terms no doubt largely in their opponents interest. The criticism should be levelled at promoters who withdraw their fighters from purse bids because they don't get everything their own way.

Yes I agree with most of what you said. However there is another side to it, fact is that Amir gets criticized for fighting opponents who come just a pay day. Wasnt that what was said about each one of his opponents, except
Limmond. Oh Scott came in to get pay day, Earl was shot to bits he just wanted one last pay day...
Khan has probably himself come to a point where he thinks that they dont come to fight and the reason they want to fight him is to get a pay day cause thats what we all say about his opponents. And there is some truth to it.

Its not about bullying Thaxton into taking the offer but it was great oppurtunity for him, apart from Warren who else is going to offer him that kind of money. Even if you ignore the fact that he went about saying for days how he would do it for free and so and so would pay his bills. However, it seems money was the reason the fight was not made.

To no fault of his, part of the problem is that financial success and popularity has come before success in pro. boxing career.
