My point was that whether or not there is any truth that Thaxton just wants a big payday (I personally think Thaxton has more pride than that) there is a difference between fans on internet forums suggesting it than Khan himself coming out with it in the media -particularly after he allowed himself to be withdrawn as mandatory challenger. Khan is a young talent with lots of potential but Thaxton has actually achieved more than him to date during his pro career - yes it has taken him a lot longer but I can't help but feel disappointed when I hear a seasoned pro being belittled by all this talk of "he needs me more than I need him" even if it is true. About Warren's alleged offer to Thaxton - it seems it was a case of our way or no way. As for Thaxton's 'Get me in the ring for free offer' back in July I think some have misinterpreted this offer. Apparently he had secured backing from an internet casino giant at that time which would have enabled him to fight Khan without the need for a purse from Khan's promoter as Golden Palace. com were prepared to put up Thaxton's purse with no strings attached.
