The point is that some are claiming he was hit in the balls. No blow came close to Kovalevs balls. In fact the worst one can claim was several blows were borderline. Kovalev was ready to quit at any moment from the pain of body blows not low blows.

You can't strategically flirt with illegal blows, it will lead to nonsense such as the ending of this fight. That's why officials warn to "keep them up." when they trail into the trunk and belt area.

I can't blame Kovalev for doing what he was taught to do to draw attention to illegal tactics. I don't think his antics were nearly as bad as Hopkins, Judah, or even Mayweather in Maidana II.

Ok, so if Ward had bent double from one of Kova's rabbit punches, you wouldn't have any problem with that?

I don't think Ward would beat any of them either.

The not listed Victor Galindez would have beaten both Kovalev and Ward...as would have John Conteh, Matthew Saad Muhammad and Eddie Mustafa Muhammad.

Like this? It happens, it's part of the sport. If you want to draw attention to a foul, damage or no damage, you sell it.

I think this is reasonable from Mayweather. Disgraceful would be if Mayweather fell on the floor and pretended to be knocked out for 2 minutes from a punch that while illegal didn't appear to land that hard or good.

And imagine the controversy of the above sequence got ruled a TKO. I mean, that's what the Kovalev detractors say, right. He turned his back and leaned in the ropes, he was done.

Such ignorance! Kovalev was crippled hunched over in pain from legit body blows way before the ref stopped the fight. In fact the ref looked as if he was ready to stop the fight as Ward was pounding on him prior to the actual stoppage.

Ok. I thought we had Kovalev fighting at 175 lbs, the LtHvyweight limit on same day weigh-in same as Foster. True, Foster lost to Jones (182 lbs), Mina (180 lbs), and Folley (212lbs), with Foster around 174-180 lbs, and to Frazier (208lbs) w/ Foster (188 lbs) & to Ali (221lbs) w/ Foster (180 lbs). Foster's efforts as a today's cruiserweight was not successful.

Same day weigh ins might take away some of Kovalev's size advantage and hurt his stamina. 24 hour could give him a big advantage over Foster.

So by your logic, complaining of dirty tactics is disgraceful.
    But dirty tactics are okay.

Fight Andre Ward, you take a huge risk of getting hurt by dirty tactics. He has that reputation and don't blame any fighter for trying to protect themselves against that by drawing attention to the official.

And it's not like Ward doesn't sell fouls either. I recall in instant he deliberately head butted Bika then stepped back, and complained that he was the one butted. But yeah, I'm the fanboy that don't call it fair. Of course.
