    Holmes was considered the champ, absolutely, but the term undisputed wasn't bandied around much at all.

    Agreed. The terms like undisputed and lineal weren't used much back then.

    Absolutely. Lineal seems to have come into vogue in more recent times. I cannot remember hearing the term back in the 80's and i nabbed virtually every mag going for years.

    I do think "undisputed" was commonly when one had all the belts, which was two for the longest time. The days of just two belts seems like heaven nowadays.

    I think the first time it was used in the 80s when Michael Spinks vacated his IBF belt.
