Tyson was far more effective against a younger Holmes while Holy was more effective against Douglas but Buster was heavier than when he beat Mike, Holy also got hit far too much v Dokes and Foreman.

So for future reference, any heavyweight over 212 lbs qualifies as "A big dude".

That could come in handy in the future!

A 6-7 guy with an 83" reach is a big dude. Jon Jones at 6-4 with an 85" reach is a big dude.

    Don't play the simp.

What has Tyson got to do with anything? Tyson would be far more effective/impressive than Holyfield against many fighters but when push comes to shove Holyfield rolled him H2H. Take into account styles. Holyfield was hardly going to blow Spinks out in 90 seconds either.

Holmes was younger but he'd also been out of the ring for ages. He hadn't fought for basically 2 years where as he had a handful of fights in the 2yrs prior to Holyfield including beating Mercer not long prior.

Holyfield looked fantastic vs Douglas no matter what shape Douglas was in. Have you ever seen him sharper?

Newsflash - Holyfield got hit too often in many fights. That is the way he was. He took some real bombs against Foreman that could well have got other top heavyweights out of there.

Ironically in the fight where he barely got hit against Douglas you called him "less than stellar". you can't have it both ways.

    Your comments aren't holding up.

Tommy Hearns is 6' 1'' with a 78'' reach, but nobody argues that he was a de facto heavyweight!

Your problem is that you got greedy here.

It would have made more sense to throw Wilder under the bus, just to maintain the consistency of your size based argument.

You couldn't do that, and now you have created an albatross which I am going to hang round your neck, for the foreseeable future!

I just feel Tyson was a better defensive fighter than Holy while trained by Rooney and that Holy discovered how to beat him when fighting Bowe the second time, he even stated that himself, I feel before that Holy`s fights at heavy were overrated specifically his first fight with Bowe, I really didn`t feel he was that good in that bout and at that size would never have eaten Tyson.

6,1 is too short for heavyweight now unless you`re built powerful and compact.

Walcott had a really muscular back also, there`s some power in them shoulders when you look at his fights on youtube.

He`s talking about his height and how most of his muscle is in his biceps and shoulders.

Harold Johnson was a prime physical specimen, but he couldn't hold a candle to stringbean Bob Foster .Alexis Arguello was ,"The Explosive Thin Man," he didn't impress with his skinny frame, but he could hit like hell with his right hand.Any flyweight ever hit harder than Jimmy Wilde? I think you get my point.

Neither were top flight punchers.Layne's best ko scalp ,many times ko'd Satterfield 180lbs.
    Grantland Rice .
I saw Rocky Marciano against Rex Layne and against Joe Louis. In those two jousts, Layne knew less about ring warfare than he did about the philosophy of Plato or Aristotle. He had no left hand. He couldn’t box. He couldn’t punch. In the other meeting, Joe Louis had already passed over the ancient hill of time. He was just disappearing from view.

All that either fight could prove was that Marciano could punch when he was able to reach two slow-moving targets. Later on, Rocky didn’t look any too annihilating against Lee Savold, another veteran whose shadow crossed the hill years ago.
