Could Lennox Lewis have stayed disciplined and methodical against Riddick Bowe?

Yes he would have imo.

 

I think Lennox hit quite a bit harder and would jump on Bowe once he got him buzzed, getting the KO.

 

LOL, he did not jump on the one trick pony Tua, he did not jump on the ghost of Mike Tyson, he did not jump on glass cannon Rahman,he did not jump on statue Bruno, he did not jump on Oldiefield and so on...he did not jump on Lionel Butler who they pulled out of a crack house,literally. two hours before they fought....

Prime Bowe is not a washed up Ruddock or mental midget Golata who lost twice to a shot Bowe.

To the best of my knowledge Bowe is next to Marciano the only Heavyweight champs who were never stopped.

He did jump on McCracken and got stopped quick......and that is the version Prime Bowe would be facing, a pawing jab telegraphed right hand off balance Lewis, he was not a finished product.

Bowe fights three minutes a round, is easily as strong as Lewis and beat a a prime Holyfield from pillar to post including stopping him vs Lewis went thru a 24 round snoozefest with a washed up Holyfield who could not even get a handle on club fighter Ruiz right afterwards.

Early 90's Bowe stops early to mid 90's Lewis dead.

 

He tended to jump on bigger, taller hard hitters like Grant, Ruddock, Briggs and Golota. Plus, knowing he had stopped Bowe in the ams, and that Bowe was obviously terrified of him, would add to his confidence .

I lived through the Bowe Era, dealt with his ******* manager. He was a paper tiger. Skilled and talented as the day is long but a mental midget.

I concede that a later Bowe most likely would fall victim to Lewis.

He had to fight such fearsome punchers as Pierre Coetzer, crack-addled Mike Dokes, Jesse Ferguson, Elijah Tillery, Larry Donald, Buster Mathis, Jr... I notice a pattern. Hell, I noticed it thirty years ago.

 

Yeah I’d still favor even the pre-steward version of Lewis to beat Riddick Bowe in the early 90s. But that said it would be a hard fight.

 

Bowes chances ended when he dumped the WBC belt in the garbage to duck Lennox Lewis instead of living up to their agreed scenario Bowe vs Holyfield Lewis vs Ruddock. The two winners to meet to decide which was the True Champion. Bowe, Newman & most of all Eddie Futch, knew Bowe could not beat Lennox..
As Eddie Papa Smurf Futch said " Riddick ate himself out of the title scene when he had a fridge installed in his bedroom "!!!

 

I think Bowe most likely came into the pros with brain damage. He got KO'd a bunch of times in the amateurs and Tommy Brooks said Evander Holyfield and Tyrell Biggs would beat the crap out of a 17-18 year old Bowe in sparring constantly. Then there was a USA team alternate who said Bowe got beaten to a pulp by Ray Mercer in sparring before the 88 olympics. It would explain his very quick decline and the extreme reluctance his management team had for matching him against punchers.

 

Riddick just isn’t smart enough.
