with what we know about both fighters Vitali liked to put his gas on the peddle mid-fight after boxing early. Lewis had a great early offense but never stopped a man after 8 rds, so Vitali got stronger, while Lewis coasted. I dont like Lewis was so far past it, however not prime but with 42 fights not worn. I also do not think Vitali was at his best, the Lewis fight gave him confidence like the Holmes fight gave Mike Weaver confidence and the Sanchez fight made Azuma Nelson confident. They learned from a loss and gained from it. A cut is always a possibility but looking at Vitali's record after I think this was a freakish cut and I am doubtful that it would have happened in a rematch

I think there is always a possibility that cut's ,there were two, could re-open.There is also a possibility that Vitali would beat a 38,going on39 Lennox in a rematch. And the likely-hood that Lewis, after such a close call, in a fight he thought would be another Michael Grant blow out ,would be in much better shape for a rematch.
Lewis at nearly 38 was past prime had not fought in a year and was not in top shape ,that is undeniable. Vitali was 33 years old with 33 fights unbeaten and had held or was the holder of several titles, his plan was always to fight Lewis and he was next in line after the aborted Johnson fight. He was as ready as he would ever be.
Both men were sloppy and ran out of gas, Lewis at least could say he was nearly5 years the older man and not in prime shape ,what was Vitali's excuse?

To answer the original posters question.
Yes, Lewis could beat Vitali without the aid of cuts, and the prime version of Lennox would.

That doesn't even make sense, why would lewis think Vitali had a glass jaw when Wlad didn't even fight sanders yet? More incorrect info on your part!:blackeye

"Vitali is the best thinking Hw since Ali.Hes very smart, intelligent fighter. He can box and throw punches at any angles. He can move.He can take a punch.Hes tall and busy.He very hard to hit,he knows what you are going to do before you do it,hes the smartest boxer ive ever seen" Stacey Mcinney! 2008...because he DId improve as well throughout his career..Lewis did not get the best Vitali and going from fighting low class fighters to lewis does not give him the edge on 2 weeks notice as you pretend it does we both know, lewis benifitted from that and why he didn't give him a rematch!:yep

Be it as it may...why would lewis think he has a glass chin when he never lost...lewis never fought sanders because he was a southpaw ,Sanders himself is one of those anomlies ,a dangerous fighter who took to fighting top guys a bit to late in his career..

..."by letting him rip my face off" - novel way of retiring someone.

so, the unobjective opinion of a person about HIMSELF, supporting himself, is your supportive evidence.

    keep it up.

Surely Vitali wouldn't be biased about himself? Ha Ha Termite keep it up! You're giving everybody round here a good laugh.
At least it's not boring when you make your poorly phrased assertions!
p.s. Who the hell is Stacey Mckinney?
