We don’t have sufficient vision of Liston as at the time so I guess the default answer should be no. But as someone also said, styles do make fights - and to varying degrees. So 1) do you think Liston’s style present as an overwhelming stylistic advantage, and 2) had Sonny sufficiently firmed up on that style as at 1955? As a possible comparison, how might one rate 1970 Foreman’s chances (the version that beat Chuvalo) against 71 Frazier? Foreman wasn’t yet fully developed as a fighter but there were already core features there that ultimately and strongly lent to an off prime Frazier’s undoing in ‘73. Anyway, this is the earliest footage of Liston boxing that I’m aware of, a ‘52 Golden Gloves fight with about 3 years and 14 pro fights (til the end of ‘55) ahead of him: - This content is protected
Do they give awards for fawning fan fiction? If so, you just beat out the movie Rudy for best Marciano fan fiction.
It would be like Liston vs Patterson I, and I think Charles would stop Marciano quicker than 45 seconds. Sorry, if I offend some Rocky fans, but I just need to be honest. Please, do feel free to criticize my opinion.
Marciano trying his dirty non Queensberry fighting with Liston, that sure as hell would not end well for Rocky.
