Become a 2 weight undisputed champion before 25?? Its not inconceivable. Taylor-Ramirez could well fight next, crowning an undisputed champion at 140. Lopez could take a fight or two in the meantime. Fight a respected name at 140 in his first fight up, a Zepeda or Pedraza perhaps, and then fight the winner of Ramirez-Taylor. Bare in mind that all these fighters mentioned are under the TR banner, so wouldnt be too difficult to make. What do you guys think? That would be one of the greatest acheivements in boxing history, would it not? Could he pull it off?
Or he could move up and get sparked out in a round like Linares did. Loma isn't the biggest puncher, and he had him rocked a few times. The guys at 140 many of them hit like a Mack Truck., and will Lopez's power carry up?
Lopez will be good at 140, but yes power does disappear as one moves up in weight. Look how big of a puncher Mikey or Broner were at lightweight, yet that KO power was gone at welterweight. Anyway a unification would be a great attempt and definitely a potential fight for the future.
TL has a huge upside and potential. If he can stay focused and disciplined he can achieve great things. But, he is only 23. How he handles his new found success will determine his future. Hope he doesn't self destruct.
Not entirely true. Broner almost stopped Maidana. Had him badly hurt in the 12th. He also dropped Shawn Porter. Mikey put the worst beating ever on Vargas and inflicted more damage than anyone else had.
Hear me out... If im Lopez I'd try and strike while the iron is hot. He's the unified and undisputed lightweight champ and got a ton of eye balls winning a dominant decision over the P4P #1 in the world.... Ask TR for Manny Pacquiao. Yes, he's jumping two weight classes but he's still bigger than Pacman. By the time they fight it'll be almost two years since Pac fought Thurman (he's already said he won't fight until fans are allowed. Lopez just benefited greatly from fighting an inactive (14 months) aging fighter in Lomachenko. Win that fight and it lines up even bigger PPV against Crawford. Win or lose the guy is set for life before age 25.
They do maintain some power to hurt opponents, but I still take note that their KO streaks tend to end as soon as moving up. There are exceptions like Crawford who has maintained steady finishes (with questionable opposition). Its like to this day I still think that Chavez Jr was only ever doing fine at middleweight because of his size. In fact his entire fighting style was based entirely on putting his weight on the smaller guys (Rubio fight a classic example). The second he moved up his career crashed and largely because I think he could no longer weight bully his opponents.
Hey, Glass jaw Linares got blasted in 1, so just because he got blasted Lopez is also supposed to get blasted easliy lol
