Could Los Angeles supplant Las Vegas as the boxing capital?

Los Angeles has a huge Hispanic population. Los Angeles has plenty of tourist/nightlife options for people to make a day/weekend out of it. More and more cards are being held at Staples Center, Honda Center, Home Depot Center...

We do have a huge hispanic population but for us to take over as the boxing capital is a lil far fetched. The fights that are being held at Staples and Depot Center are usually the small-medium cards.

Home depot center is my personal favorite.

Las Vegas is much more convinient, hotels, motels, clubs, shows etc... all on one street.

In L.A. you would have to drive all across the city for one thing, then across the other way for another etc....

It's good to see LA getting some attention and drawing large audiences at boxing events. Yeah, LA is heavily Hispanic based and i think as long as the fights feature Hispanic fighters, it will continue to draw huge audiences. I hope more boxing events occur here whether it be Staples, Home Depot, or Honda Center.

I'd love to see a huge fight at Dodger stadium, that would be so awesome.

I would prefer it if fights were held at a venue relevant to the fighters taking part.

From a British point of view, Hatton vs Malignaggi was an MSG fight. Hatton vs Pacquiao is debatable, I would like to see it at Wembley or even at a big stadium in Asia.....

Asians hate Philipinos. Maybe in Manila.

I agree. I don't think Hatton/Pacman should take place in Vegas. It should be at Wembley stadium or some stadium in the Phillipines. But then again, what fighter would agree to fight at another fighter's backyard. I guess in the end, a neutral site makes more sense. But it just doesn't have that same sense of drama.

For me the £££ argument doesn't stand up. Why not have it in one of the fighter's home countries, and subsidise travel for the other fighter's fans..... to encourage them to spend more in that country.

After all we are in recession.....

I wouldn't think twice about going to the Phillipines to a fight, but Vegas is too expensive. Could stay with my ex's family in Singapore and almost commute..... not exactly far.

Why drag everyone over to Vegas all the time?

    HBO/GBP are ruining boxing.
