Could Loughran have won the heavyweight title at any point in the 50s-80s?

What would his window of opportunity have been?

42-60 is the magic period for all these ATG LHW/HW combo guys. Between(prime) Louis and Liston.

I think that you can identify windows where he couldn't be counted out.

He might have been able to beat Charles or Walcott, but he probably wouldn't.

Marciano is all wrong for him, and Patterson isn't much better.

He might just have been able to steal a decision against Johansen, if he could avoid getting his chin knocked off.

Liston, Ali, Frazier, and Foreman just forget it, but he might have had a chance of getting the vacant title while Ali was in the wilderness.

He might perhaps have beaten Leon Spinks.

He is not beating Holmes, but he might have been able to exploit the chaos of the 80s alphabet titles, to pick up a strap at some point.

On a side not he might just have been champion in his own era, if he had been more lucky with the draw.
