I just watched the entire 2nd Morales Pacquiao fight for the first time. And not only was Morales winning the fight after the 9th round, he was handing Pacquiao a beating similar to what occured in the 1st fight.

Which of course is a credit to Pacquiao for taking such punishment and pulling out the victory.

But still, the ultimate truth is, Morales was severly weight drained, past his prime, and the fight still didnt swing Pacquiao's way until Morales legs completely gave out and he had absolutely nothing left. Which of course occurs in fights where one fighter is draining himself.

So prime for prime would Manny Pacquiao ever have beaten Morales. Or was Morales Pacquiao's foil in the same way Marquez was, but Morales was just caught on the slide.

To be honest a Prime Pacquiao could beat Morales, it would be silly to say he doesnt have a chance.

But based on styles I think a prime Morales decisions him.

I think at 122 Pac would've beaten him probably by KO. Look at that first fight which although Morales won it was still pretty close and Morales was really bigger than Pac and took some big shots but I feel his size helped him take them and push Pac back.

So IMO Pac is too fast and powerful for MOrales in a prime v prime fight.

I think that if Pac had taken one or two fights to grow into the weight rather than challenge Morales right off the bat he would've won the first fight too. Also he got unlucky with that accidental headbutt in the 5th.

prime v prime Morales gives Pac a good fight but Pac beats him

He just beat the crap out of Barrera. No doubt Roach and Pac thought Morales would be the easier scalp.

I think Pac would win, but Morales would always make it a challenge. Who knows what a cut or whatnot could tip the balance.

yea but they underestimated Morales' size. Pac was a 122lb fighter who moved up to take on Barrera. He was already small as a featherweight. Just 3 fights at 126 and he moves up to 130 to face a guy the quality Morales right off the bat. Just watching that first fight you can tell Pac's power just doesn't have the same effect. It was obvious right from the beginning.

the version of PAc that detroyed Barrera and drew with JMM in back to back fights beats a prime Morales.

Prime Morales is at either 122 or 126. Prime Pac is anywhere from 135 to 147. Outside of the size difference, the best Pacquiao is just much better than the best Morales.

Pacquiao beat better fighters from 122-130. Morales, Barrera and Marquez are better then any fighter Pac has fought since. Even a past it Morales gave Maidana hell. Cotto and the like dont hold a candle to these guys. Pacquiao could invariably be looking better because he's fighting inferior technicians. I think this will be proven when Marquez gives him a better fight then most expect.

The question is could the Pacquiao that got clowned in the 12th round against Morales, ever beat a Morales who wasnt weight drained or past it at an ideal weight for Morales.
