Jockstraps aren't that heavy so I'll say yes....yes Marciano could carry Holmes jockstrap!

But seriously though, if there were any sub 200 pound fighter I'd give a good chance at beating Holmes, it would be Marciano.

Size is relevant, but only to a certain extent, especially when it comes to 180 pounds and up. Holmes was 209 lbs when he became champion, Marciano 184 pounds. A twenty five pound weight difference. Yet, many think that it's extremely plausible that a 209 pound Holmes would beat a 245 pound Lennox Lewis or a 250 pound Anthony Joshua while giving away 36 and 41 pounds. Not saying that Holmes would lose to the above, but Holmes would actually be closer in weight to Marciano and writing Marciano off as "too small" especially when he'd be the harder puncher in the ring against Holmes but insisting Holmes is big enough to handle Anthony Joshua, who he has nothing on in terms of punching power, seems like a double standard.

Charles when he fought Marciano was as old as Wilder is right now at this moment and younger than Ortiz.

Walcott and Louis were 3 and 4 years younger than the Wlad Klitchsko that AJ fought and beat. Moore was about the same age as Wlad and was still beating younger fighters in their prime. If my 83 year old grandfather was beating all of the top rated contenders today, it wouldn't matter his age, he'd still deserve a title shot.

Holmes was better on every level. He was a different breed. And he's simply not being given the credit he has earned. Maybe a white Holmes would do better...

I know you have a hatred for old school wrestlers but Marciano was clearly greater. Holmes is my 5th favorite but even I can face reality. You should try it some time.

I'd give Dempsey a much better chance against Holmes than I would Marciano.

Not a double standard at all. The big difference is that Holmes is faster, more mobile, and more skilled than Joshua, and has a style and skill set that would enable him to avoid taking a lot of punishment from bigger opponents. Absolutely none of that is true of Marciano with respect to Holmes.

No doubt about him being great and tough! But putting him against true Heavyweight ATGs, wo beat regular 210lb + fighters with winning percentage > 90% is just pure nonsense.
Marcianos record against fighters >= 210lb = 5-0 ! If you check who these fellows where, and what win/lose-ratios these fighters had, you will start to spit, leaving one: Joe Louis. 37 years old, in his last bout.

I doubt Marciano could get past that 81"jab often enough to land his Suzie Q.

And the collected masses wait for the next tiny, slow, short, truncated white power puncher to take the division by storm because it is quite obviously the blueprint for heavyweight greatness.

My advice: Keep the IROC running to stay warm and don't hold your breath.

Nick Wells who was 5"10 got past it & they took Holmes out on a streacher 2X at the height of Holmes amateur career & guys like the 22 fight Renaldo Snipes dropped Holmes with the right hand then there was the 5'10 Tyson. I think Holmes had one of the best jabs but & it would be a great fight but I see the Marciano relentless pressure, Stamina & great right hand power getting to Holmes sometime between the 8th -15th rd.
