Marciano would be inside Holmes's jab very quickly, as he was with every other jabber he faced.

If it comes to a toe to toe slugging match, Holmes is going to get dismantled.

For Holmes to win, he has to be able to keep away from Marciano, and I am not sure that he ever showed that.

Nonsense. A 137 year old Louis was tatooing Marciano with his jab. That poor wreck of a man had nothing on a prime Holmes when it came to jabbing.

You consistently keep ignoring the difference in size that's being lined out. Marciano closing in on 6 foot 190 pound jabbers has little relevance to how a fight with Holmes would play out. Holmes had what, 6 inches in height and 30 pounds in weight on Rocky? And let's not even mention the laughable difference in reach or the fact that Holmes had much faster hands than anyone Marciano fought ever.

And Holmes showed plenty of times that he could fight a disciplined fight eg. Shavers I and II, Cooney, Tyson...

I'll take Rockys elite punching ability over 4 inches, 30 pounds, and a better jab any day of the week. Without hesitation.

Of course you do. And if Holmes fought in the 30s, and was a 5'9 welterweight with a total of 10 minutes of film available on him, you'd back him to beat Klitschko based on his impressive win over Ray Impellittiere.

lol nah. I just place an enormous amount of value to great punchers.

Which is why I love Golovkin and Gassiev. I consider GGG being cut from the same cloth as Louis, Liston, Dempsey, etc. He's a modern fighter btw!

You can't catch me on any agenda. At least not one that I consciously know of.

BTW, have you ever seen a 6'3 person in real life?

Holmes is not even 10% taller than Marciano. Relative to Rocky, he is not the fairy tale monster you might be imagining.

This is a direct contradiction of what Marciano actually said after he had faced an old Joe Louis.
" I couldn't avoid his jabs I just had to take them".

I would say with confidence that a prime Holmes jab was superior to the remnants of the one that an over the hill Louis possessed. Its also 4 inches longer!

An ancient Louis might still have had more power in his jab than a prime Holmes, and he couldn't even slow Marciano down with it.

Lets not pretend that Holmes is a giant, or a power puncher here.

He has about ten pounds and an inch and a half in height on Walcott.

There is simply no way that he is going to keep Marciano off him with just his jab.

Holmes survived Shavers right hand bomb , I'd take him to do the same against Marciano.Larry made an unfortunate remark in the heat of the moment and amid the disappointment of losing a close fight, when he was being heckled by a gloating Marciano relation , he apologized for it later. I think it should be left there.

I doubt Louis ' jab was anywhere near as effective at that stage of his career and he marked Marciano up pretty good with it. At his peak Louis did not have the footwork of Holmes nor the reach . whilst no dynamite puncher Holmes hit hard enough to make anyone wary of coming in recklessly The point is Holmes didn't ,just have a jab did he.
