Yes I looked at those names. Dusty Wilkerson...Bun Ray... 67 obscure guys... but it’s not the only 67 guys Moore fought.

Archie fought not 67 times but had in fact fought 149 guys by the time he fought Rocky. So as amusing as this assortment of 67 stocking fillers sound with their Cleveland Williams fodder type names there is the matter of the other 82 times Moore fought before meeting Marciano. And within that 82, a larger number than 67, you will find the meat of value within his resume.

The Maxim, the Bivins, the charles fights. The astonishing wins over Harold Johnson, Nino Valdes, Clarence Henry and Big Bob Baker. All of which are more significant than this amusing set of characters that make up a lesser proportion of the Moore resume that resemble the vast majority of the Cleveland Williams hit list.

So he had very high mileage on his clock, which bears out him saying his legs were gone when he fought Rocky.

You have long had an obsession with Archie’s legs.. just because he said so. Archie said a lot of stuff about secret recipes, from secret soothe saying aborigines... even stories about the ref preventing him from beating Marciano...and all manner of other examples of high order mumbo Jumbo. Going by what Achie said there is a lot that does not add up. What are we to believe?

If we look at the facts, Archie was having terrific form. The best set of wins of his entire career. His previous six fights Moore posted his best ever results. There are no filmed examples of Archie needing strapped up knees, having knock knees, bandy legs, thigh strain, or even tennis elbow for that matter! The results speak for themselves. Bob Baker, Nino Valdes, Harold Johnson, Bobo Olson, Bert whitehurst and Joey Maxim. Terrific wins. His best ever.

In fact, Archie Moore having those fights before taking on Marciano would be like Micheal Spinks beating Marvin Hagler, Tim Witherspoon, Pinklon Thomas, Dwight Qawi and Evander Holyfeild before taking on Larry Holmes.

It's deja vu every time isn't it. Foreman/Liston/Tyson's opponents are tripe but Louis/Marciano/Holmes, they fought monsters.

Hey prove me wrong. You can’t.

Archie was a legit heavyweight threat to the title in that era. Beating the guys he did in the order he did shows that he was a serious threat to any HW title in any era. Bob Baker, Nino Valdes and Clarence Henry would be a serious threat to any heavyweight era. Archie creamed them.

Micheal Spinks would need to beat Larry Holmes’s #1 and #2 contenders to match Moore’s legitimacy as a heavyweight contender. Imagine if Spinks did that?

So Moore would have been a "serious threat" to peak Ali, Frazier, Liston, Foreman, Holmes, Tyson and Lewis?

I'll have a pound of what you are on.

    Statistically yes. Absolutely.

You get somebody to beat the #1 and #2 contender from any strong era and you have a serious threat to the title. Any title.

Don’t you rate Nino Valdes, Clarence Henry and Big Bob Baker?

Strong contenders in that era. Oh and "statistically" now.

Beating those two most certainly does not make Moore a "serious threat to any HW title in any era" in the real world that's for sure.

I don’t see why not. Why not? Statistically or otherwise Henry, Valdes and Baker are strong enough to make a similar impression on any era.

What era couldn’t they compete in?

What is the real world? They were real contenders in a real era.

Moore would be a more serious threat to any champion. Why not?

You mentioned Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Holmes, Tyson and Lewis. Moore can beat guys they defended titles against can’t he?

At the very least Moore only has to beat Marvis Frazier, Tony Tubbs, Jose Roman, joe Bugner, Lionel Butler, Phil Jackson, Tex Cobb, David Bey to be a more serious threat than those guys were.

    i'll make it real simple.

Do you see the exact version of Archie Moore you are championing to be a "serious threat" to the likes of 67 Ali, FOTC Frazier, Foreman of the Norton fight, peak Holmes, peak Tyson or peak Lewis?

Don't fudge around it's a very simple yes or no question. You've implied yes.

Yes. Why not? Look at who moore beat in the HW division for crying out loud. Henry, Baker, Valdes.

At the very least Moore only has to beat Marvis Frazier, Tony Tubbs, Jose Roman, Ernie Terrell, joe Bugner, Lionel Butler, Phil Jackson, Tex Cobb, David Bey to be a more serious threat than those guys were.

Beating contenders in one era does not in anyway guarantee you would be a"serious threat to any HW title in any era,"and to suggest so is asinine.

eg Moore would not be a serious threat to the title today. Many ,many contenders of yesteryear would not be serious threats to the title in different eras. ps Moore beat Henry and Valdes by decision, he didn't "cream them."

God you do get desperate with this hyperbole!
