Bang on point. Marciano fought at a weight that optimised his strength and endurance. He knew his body better than any of us.

    What he grant said basically.

Rocky only had 1 big meal a day leading up to a fight going from about 200 to 185 which he said was his best weight. Rocky is too big naturally to go down even further he'd have to starve himself and lose some muscle and energy while doing it.

Another senseless point .. of course he is going to walk around significantly heavier than his fighting weight ... In exile Ali walked around at 225 ... Frazier between fights 220 or so ... Dempsey went well over 210 .. what matters is their best fight weight ... Marciano's was 185 - 188 .

Dempsey over 210? I find that hard to believe unless this was during his self imposed exile in hollywood. Dempsey himself said that for the Willard fight (his prime) he actually weighed in at 180.

And although not a particularly important point boxers 'off' weight does play it parts. There was a thread on general about David Haye saying he was the same size as Foreman (220lbs) and was asked whether people agreed and about 90% said no as Foreman weighed up to and over 250 while 'off'.
