Every division has the wrong name.

Canelo claims to be a LMW but weighs 180 on fight night!

All the more reason to start with the SHW and HW issue. There is no "official" place for a 201lb fighter. That's wrong. This was prime Joe Louis!! There is no official place for prime Joe Louis in boxing anymore!

Anything over 200 pounds is a HW.

He would be in the HW division today at that weight, or he could cut down and campaign at CW and maybe even LHW.

Nobody wants to be 0fficially201 though because 200lb is the cruiser limit. Nobody wants to be 201,on the night either. On the night those CW guys are 224lb. He has to be above that to get out of that class. Why would mr 201lb want to be a in the SHW class and take on somebody above 230lb?

Why does any HW fight fight anyone heavier than them?

    Because that's what they do.

Floyd Mayweather used to always fight men who rehydrated above his weight, why didn't he just move down a weight and fight a man his own size?

Hate was only 210, why didn't he stay at CW?

    You aren't making sense mate.

There are some heavier cruiserweights, but guys like Huck or Cunningham aren't above 210.
    Makabu is downright small

There are a few big guys, but it doesn't seem quite as bad as the lower weight divisions.

All this is frying my brain, let's just leave the divisions alone. Most of these so called SHW'S are only that size because they are lazy lard arses. If smaller HW'S can't beat them that's their problem.....

I doubt somebody who was unskilled and crude as Marciano could even beat a average 169 pound fighter of today. His boxing skills are even worse than Ronda Rousey. Since the Italian mob doesn't control boxing today and could stage fights for him he wouldn't even try to box.

That makes sense I think. There are diminishing returns to size as there are to everything, so being 215 lbs instead of 205 lbs in the ring won't make as much difference as being, say, 148 lbs instead of 138 lbs.

It isn't possible to think Rousey has better boxing skills than Rocky.

That's a poor attempt at trolling.

Just because Marciano was Italian? Seriously? The "mafia" had a certain amount of control of boxing during the 40s and 50s but that has been blown out of proportion by movies and television. The "mafia" wasn't that big anyway. Sure there were a few Italian American ethnic gangs but to suggest that they were connected in a worldwide syndicate is ludicrous. No such thing as the mob...at least not in the US. Italy/Sicily is a whole 'nother thing.
