Obviously, opening a cut on your opponent's face and then targeting said cut until the ref or doctor decides it's too bad to continue is NOT a true way to win a fight. This goes without saying (although I just said it, so perhaps it doesn't). Now, as you may or may not know, Marvin Haglers 'win' over Alan Minter came via cuts. Thankfully, despite what the 'rules' say, no one in their right mind recognises these results as a true reflection of those fights. Common sense has prevailed and history states that Minter EVT Hagler But what I want to know is this: Was Hagler actually good enough to beat Minter TRULY? Could he punch him in the face repetitively without opening a cut and actually win the fight by KO or on the scorecards? Personally i'm not so sure. What about you? And please, lets not have any of you pathetic 'Hagler TKO Minter' trolls in here. This is a serious thread for real fans. If you want to troll go do it in one of Boxed Ears' threads :good
nice thread, yet posting it to classic boxing forum will be better since it talks about boxing in past!
We all know of Minter's infamous pre fight comment, but most only quote the first part 'No black man will ever take my championship from me, unless it's on a cut, which wouldn't count because although I wouldn't technically be champion I'd have won the event' and obviously he was right
Little did Minter know Hagler was really an oreo that now lives in Italy so he wasnt really a black man.
