Floyd's career is hard to say. He never really fought anyone prime or peak who was hungry in the way a ATG would be. Hagler would not someone easy to beat. Which Hagler are we talking? The rusty Hagler who was not as motivated against Ray or the one who came out smoking against Hearns? I don't think he could beat an ATG middleweight. No. I don't think he would fight them.

He had his chance with GGG but he passed on it. So if you are unwilling to test the waters, then there's really no need in matching him with ATG middles

Depends on who we label ATGs.

Nonpareil Dempsey, for example, was once considered the best boxer in the world - is he an ATG?

Floyd Mayweather new his limitations and never ventured into unchartered
waters at MW. The only way i see FM taken on a fully fledge MW for a Title
would be in like a watered down Title fight like Leonard vs Lalonde.

Yes he is. Do you believe greatness just disappears w/ time? If Floyd fights Jack Floyd would fight in Jacks era. Lmao. Let's see ***** Mayweather fight w/out controlling the rules, the site (the most underrated thing about him is fighting at home every fight and having yr neighbors ref, judg

-es and commissions. Give me a break let's see him fight those guys in their countries). Then just imagine in EVERY fantasy fight that Floyd doesn't pick his giant gloves. Against the Nonparial 2-4 ounce if that. Pretty boys hands are getting hurt. His body is getting hurt as they wrestle his arm down and no holds barred fighting. And his face is getting hurt. You stop you quit back then you KNOW 1880-1990. Yes without total match control, over 15- against Dempsey a finish fight, FLOYD BE ****ED!!!!!!
    LOL

Think you've nailed it there Jupp.
Floyd' would have manipulated everything around a middle weight fight, as Sugar did against Lalonde, so the other guy actually comes in probably weakened down. Imo Floyd against a natural, decent Middle would be a step to far.

A Vito Antuofermo (Antuofermio to Marvin Hagler)....not even remotely close to being amongst the middleweight elite would totally mug, batter, and and cut off all the oxygen in the ring and the room for Mayweather.....bullying and manhandling him like Mustafa Hamsho did to Wilfred Benitez......never mind what the true 160 lb elite would do to him.

Of course he is an ATG.

The fact is also that Nonpareil would never be any kind of Middleweight today, as he actually weighed more around the Welterweight range, and beat bigger men.

And then of course rule-set must be accounted for. You see Mayweather beating Nonapreil in his rule-set? And the same vice-versa?

Anyway, its all fantastical. I think we'd just be better off learning about the individual eras and great talents, like Nonpareil, instead of constantly comparing them sometimes.

Yeah, you're probably right. Trying to compare modern fighters with boxers from the 19th century, that we have never seen… it really makes no sense.

Floyd was the most brilliant self promoter and matchmaker in boxing history in addition to being an all time great pound for pound fighter .. if he followed his carer blueprint from his welter weight championship career and cherry picked exceptional names at vulnerable tines, sure he could .. I could see him beating a 43 year old Robinson, a 42 year old Duran, a 42 year old Dick Tiger and so on and I"m not being sarcastic here .. this was Floyd .. at 130, 135 and even 140 he was unquestionably an all time great fighter P4P. He was still great for sure at 147 but his reign was much more carefully crafted. Oscar was well past it. Shane ridiculously past it. Cotto was still very good and a good win. Canelo has to be considered a great win .. that said prime for prime I don't see him beating Hagler, Robinson, Greb, Monzon, Hopkins, Toney, GGG however maybe Walker at 147 if not 160 like he did Canelo based on the ring size, the ref, etc ? Who knows ?

Yeah, a few actually. Under a few conditions anyway.
Under modern ruleset over 12 rounds I think Mayweather from the Marquez fight would be favoured over Flowers, Walker and Klaus. Well imo anyway. May could also pick up wins in series with Holman and Marshall.

He isn't beating any major H2H MWs (Monzon, Greb ect) though.

Actually, I think he could've won the MW title if he rematched Cotto instead of Berto.

The lack of respect and knowledge you cats have of Mickey Walker is mindboggling. H2h most middleweight s fall under Walkers FISTS. You guys REALLY need to learn.!?$#&%€£₩¥§μ¿Ωθฯ|©{}><][^Г¬´μ`~¥₩¿.
