Tyson weighed in at 215-220 lbs for most of his peak fights which is about what David Haye weighed against Bonin.

Could he have had a career at cruiser if the limit had been set at 200lbs?

Only if he cut water weight and rehydrated to 215-220 in the ring as is the current trend.....
However,we dont know if he had the metabolism to do this or if this would blunt his atrributes.....
However,if he could without loss of attributes ,tyson at cruiser? A bloody nightmare, and probably the best ever at 200...

That is the scenario I was thinking of.

I dont want to think about what he could have done to cruisers who were fighting in that division because they were basicaly lazy!!!!

Hell ****in no! Prime Tyson weighed an average of 215-222. And he was in great shape at those weights with basically no fat on him. Theres no way he could make 200.

You'd think so giving that he was only what, 5'11"? But that guy was always extremely stocky, I think he could probably cut down slightly maybe 7-10 lbs but I personally don't think he could of got to 200.

Tyson probably could have cut a few pounds of bodyfat and 10-15lbs of water weight by training in sweat suits and sitting in saunas

His career would probably be shorter than it was if he did that to himself.

He was very, VERY lean. Wouldn't want to see him cut anything else.

But,thinking again,by the same means janny guys like louis and even ali may get down to 200....Every heavy up to about 220/225 could possibly do 200 if they had a day before weigh in...

It could get interesting for sure.

I think David Haye would be a good sized heavyweight in most eras.

    He'll be a decent sized 1 in today's era - 6'3, 78 inch reach, 220-230lbs

Of course you dont know how far he could have gone or how he would have taken it without trying the experiment, but it is theoreticaly possible.

Joe Louis and Ali could definitely make it. Louis best weight was about 205 pounds I think and Ali's was something 207 pounds

Im not so sure tyson was that lean, and he seemed to carry a lot of water.
However im not a fan of this weight cutting, and i feel that guys this big are better off boxing at their natural weights....Not every boxer is made to be super lean and dry,its not a physique contest....
