Surprise surprise, a fighter picks the fighter who he took the distance to win in a fantasy fight....

There was something very similar in Boxing Illustrated too. Still got all the old mags in boxes down the shed!
Boxfan, did you read my earlier post No39.
I know people all age differently, and top flight boxers certainly so depending on their earlier careers, but when Joe Frazier fought for the last time in 1981 against a large, strong lumbering Cummings, I felt so sorry for Joe at taking this fight, he was a shadow of his former self writ large, and yet he must have only been 36 or 37 years old at the time. I watched this fight on TV when it happened and felt sad watching him struggle with this other guy. I firmly believe only Joe's name got him a draw.

Tyson was bigger, faster and hit harder than Holyfield , yet was staggering round like an old drunk come the 10th round.

Yeah and at that age Tyson was getting KTFO by Williams and quitting against McBride.

I read your post just now; interesting points.

And yeah, I didn't like Old Frazier getting beat, but I feel that's the same with Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson when they were all past their primes.

So going to war and struggling against a guy who was a light puncher"ALI ADMITS THAT" that gives Frazier the edge over Tyson who walked through hell against a 6'3 240 pound Murderous puncher Razor Ruddock as example? So lets say Tyson gets knocked down 2/3 times and comebacks to win in that fight as example it proves Tysons worth because he was beat up first?:patsch

Your entire thread is full of your own points is actually more proof Tyson blasts Frazier out,you haven't figured that out yet.

I know I said I was leaving this one but its filled with such nonsense I couldn't help myself!

That's right, usually driven by money or ego or both.

LOL you are trying to lecture me on nonsense despite the fact that you tried to tell me Wladimir Klitschko is as fast as Muhammad Ali. Get out kid.

Usually both. In the case of Tyson and Frazier, it was money. In the case of Ali, it was both - but a few years later Ali made millions from merchandising so he's rich, but I suppose it doesn't matter now considering his current health.

It's interesting to see which fighters are rich now and which went broke. Larry Holmes fought for a long time yet he's still quite wealthy.

Foreman needed money to fund his boxing gym I believe, but he wasn't broke like Frazier. After his comeback he became a multi-millionaire.

Joe is one of my faves, but Tyson is a horrible style match for him. A quick fisted puncher who was most dangerous in the early rounds against a smaller swarmer who was always vulnerable in the early rounds and wasn't hard to find. Tyson by KO within 4.

This is a terrible style matchup for Joe, who took time to warm up and get into his rhythm...a fast starting Tyson takes him out within 5 IMO.

Bonavena did almost stop Frazier in 2 because the 3 knockdown rule was in effect. Take your blinders off.
