could morrison have knocked out 96 tyson with a lucky left hook? i say yes. well, i know that many tyson fans will be radical here, but the truth is that tommy morrison is criminally underrated, yes, he has his defeats by ko , he did not have the best chin, but ruddock could not knock him out and he destroyed ruddock with a single shot, of course i think that even a 96 tyson COULD have destroyed morrison on his feet too, but i think that in 1996 this fight would be more balanced, and morrison could have hurt tyson badly if he catch him cleanly with left hook. PEAK VS PEAK, NO DEBATE... but in 1996 tyson did not land great combinations, he was looking for a big punch and he took many blows

Morrison could knock out near anyone with a lucky left hook. He had murder in that 90-degree arc of his.

But he wouldn't be a favorite, no. Tyson is the better overall puncher, and is sturdier.

I don't think Morrison beats Tyson. I wanted to see that in early 1991 near the time Mike fought Rudduck.

He wasn't the symbol of durability, but Mike still had a chin. He took some bombs from Holyfield and Bruno around that time frame in bouts that were heated. In 1995, Morrison was decked and very nearly beaten by a dormant Razor Ruddock, before winning by a controversial stoppage later... Of course when you have two big punchers in the ring, anyone can always win with one big bomb. But picking the duke on the unlikely occurrence of a fluke isn't where my money would go..

He could've knocked out an elephant with his left hook. Glad someone else on here agrees that Morrison is underrated.

If Frazier had Tommys left hook he would have KO'd Ali.(nobody is invincible)

Shame Tommy wasn't as tough as Frazier though.

Tommy also had some cool uppercuts directly followed by a left hook against Mercer.
Mercer was guarding, Tommy uppercutted himso hard Mercer his head got punched above his guard and Tommy directly put a left hook on that granite chin.

    What was lucky about it?

Are you suggesting Morrison will go into the bout forgetting about his hook, then as he is about to lose a big left hook comes out of no where to flatten Tyson? That would of been very, very unlikely to happen.

I have yet to see a 'lucky' punch win any fight.

Did it very well agains Ruddock too, every single on of his punches were dynamite. His jab snapped people's head back.

I think he was very tough, showed alot of heart for instance in the Hipp fight both broke hands, broke his jaw, gassed badly still came back to KO him. Against Lewis was hopelessly outclassed, past prime, suffered early cut and was asking the ref if he could go back out. 3 loses in a 50+ fight career in the 90's is not bad...not bad at all.
