Itauma went pretty hard for the finish and obviously burned a lot of energy doing so.
If he had paced himself and fought with the intention of winning a decision instead, do you think he could’ve outpointed Hrgović over 12 rounds?

Yes but no one his age should be gassing after 6 rounds and especially in a fight he really isn't taking much punishment.

    No.
Even with measured aproach he would probably be gassed at the latter rounds.
His gas tank is one of the worst i have ever seen

That's actually a disturbing lack of cardio for a 21 year to be in that condition after 9 rounds of boxing.

His team needs to rebuild his whole body.

You mean if he fought at a slower pace and didn't throw as much which would've allowed Hrgovic be more offensive and get off with his shots a lot more?

And if Hrgovic hadn't been masterful with the mind games every step of the way during the build up getting into his head making him want to KO him and had Hrgovic not planted all those seeds of doubt in his mind about being able to take his power and drag him into deep waters and drowning him which all took a toll on him mentally both before and during the fight and subsequently physically after Hrgovic's words came to pass?

When your opponent takes your best shots all night and they won't budge that will deplete your gas tank like running uphill

I’m not so sure. He seems to have one gear and that’s hell for leather from the off. If he becomes more reserved he allows his opponent to work their own offence which itself can change the trajectory of a fight.

I deal in facts, the facts are Itauma couldn’t beat Hrgović in a 12 round world title fight. The facts are Itauma has shown his way of fighting and his current condition cannot go past 9 rounds.

I won’t be shocked if this ruins his projected career path.

Man didn't even make it to the championship rounds. In a fight where he was basically having it all his own way. Just inexcusable to be that poorly trained. Even the OG glass cannon Iron Mike could muddle his way through a fight once it got later on. He wasn't going to brutally knock you out after about the 6th round, but he'd hang in there and get a decision.

This kid looks like Goku for 3-4 rounds and then he looks like Goku after getting his ass beat so badly he needs a Sensu bean.

No, because the dynamics of a fight changes if the tactics are different. The opponent is not static. Hrgovic would have fought differently if the Itauma fought differently.

if Itauma was less aggressive, then Hrgovic would have been more aggressive.

The reality is that fate cannot be changed. It was written and Hrgovic was destined to win tonight.

People will say the Ali rope a dope but in reality Ali was controlling the fight and up on the cards when the fight was stopped

I think he could have. I liked it when he threw to the body, sometimes followed with a headshot and retreated. He also feigned quite effectively as well. He had a lot of control for most of the fight without expending too much effort, it was trying to go for the finish that ended him really.
