No.... However , it's been proven that a kickboxer who seriously trains in boxing can actually achieve something./ Skelton (ex Kickboxing fighter) Vitali Klitschko (see above) Povetkin (see above)..
Haven't seen too much MMA, M, but was impressed by the ring savvy, hand speed, combinations 'n boxing ability ( 'specially when the broadcaster said he'd had very little training at it ) of Uriah Faber. He was an MMA welter, but if he tried his hand at boxing, considering his lack of height 'n reach, think he'd have more success at 135.
Why should a MMA fighter want to box? The baddest man on the planet in any weight class is an MMA fighter, so why go backwards to boxing. Let's face it no boxer at any weight class can call themselves the baddest man on the planet, because they would lose in inside a round to their MMA counterpart in a real fight!
It depends .For an MMA fighter to become a successful boxer he has to make a smooth transistion into boxing full time ..There is alot of muscle memory involved ..
Having said that, both boxing and MMA are real fights, c'mon, hitting someone and knocking someone out in a boxing ring, is less real than getting kocked out or submitted in the cage?? c'mon don't talk nonsense. In boxing you have rules, weight divisions, time limits etc, and in MMA too. This isn't old days UFC with no weight class, no gloves, no time limit, punches legal to back of head, punches legal to the groin, head butts, stomps to the head on downed opponant the list goes on. THAT IS A REAL FIGHT. Both MMA and boxing are SPORTS, and their are limitations and restrictions in both. To think other wise is pretty naive. The baddest man on the planet is probably some bar room brawler somewhere, except you'll never know about it.
I expect that many of the MMA guys that show good boxing skills could be tipped to do well in boxing but then i think that they are facing boxing novices with average chins and pads instead of gloves. So i think many will be overhyped, but then some probably have had plenty of boxing experience of some sorts. I did see a post saying boxers would lose to MMA fighters in real fights? Are we talking REAL fight? Or MMA fights? Cuz no holds barred in a night club carpark who knows how a boxer would do, you can bite, pull hair or call them fat headbutt throw gravel take PEDS or anything. An MMA fighter is always guna beat a boxer at MMA and no doubt vica verca
Exactly, good post. I have been in and out of boxing since was 8 or 9, and I could honeslty tell you. A street fight is not a boxing match, but also a MMA fight dont look anything like a real street fight. I never seen a street fight end in a submission. Yes, most fights end on the ground. Though in most street fights kicks to the head while your oppenents down, headbutts, and whatever gets the job done is allowed. Neither MMA nor boxing looks anything close to a street fight. Old UFC kinda did back in the early and mid 90's, but now it's alot more watered down and less enertaining to watch imo.
I would say of course it is possible. But the fighter has to make a smooth transition, do a lot of training, and slowly work his way up. Of course be at the right age as well to absorb the material. That said. Most boxers that made it have been boxers since child hood, so an exclusive MMA fighter would be at a big disadvantage coming into the sport. By the time he would really be competitive, if he had the talent, from day one would likely be a few years, and he would have to eat, sleep, and breath boxing in that time.
