WBC - Hasagawa WBA - Moreno IBF - Agbeko WBO - Penalosa It's a fractured division, and not the strongest. I don't see Napa getting much luck against the Jap. Firstly its difficult to lure him outside Japan, and he has a very high work-rate. I think he'd just outwork Napa who needs time to pick his shots. Moreno is a good stylist, but he's got no pop much like Napa. He's also pretty inexperienced and apart from the win over Sidorenko Napa's comepetition is stronger. I doubt he's seen an old school fighter like Napa. Maybe he has a chance here. Agbeko is very protected, one of the worst champions in boxing. Strong and powerful though, Napa may be forced into his shell. Still, he'd have a chance. Penalosa would have a bit too much I think. He's a world class fighter.
Didn't he say on Bunce's show that on the world stage he would fight at super-fly, and that he wasn't at the mo due to the lack of competition in the UK at 115? In which case he has no chance against any of Mijares, Darchinyan or Montiel.
Can he?....yes Will he?....probably since he has got his career moving forwards and he is looking very good. All he needs is for his name to get thrown in with the champs.
He's got the ability. But I don't think he will. Mabuza should clean up this weak division, along with Penalosa.
I'm not sure about that. They have their work cut out against Hasegawa trust me. He's improved a lot, he's really worked on his power, quick, really good work-rate and pretty unorthodox from the southpaw stance. He holds the most prestigious belt and is difficult to get out of Japan, so anybody going over there has a hard job to clean out the division. I like Mabuza too.
Napa said he would fight at super-fly on the world stage. If he does he has no chance of a world title with Mijares and Montiel there. At bantamweight he has a better chance.
I haven't seen anything of him since the Sahaprom fight, the first one. He didn't really impress me much then, looked pretty tough and awkward and quick as you say, and threw a lot of punches. It looks asthough your right about him improving his power as he's stopping people quicker. Is Agbeko still the IBF champ then? I haven't heard anything about him fighting in a while. Your right in saying he's protected though, he hasn't impressed me at all really apart from his physical strength, his KO percentage is pretty impressive for a 118. I suppose it's going to be tough to beat him, especially as you say he's tough to lure out of Japan. Am I right in saying he's only fought outside his home country once?
Napa is definitely a hidden gem. I think if he got a chance to fight for a world title, even if it was a losing effort I think he'd get a lot of appreciation for his style.
I'm not sure he ever has, you might be thinking of Sakata. He fought in France. The Japanese promoters are all the same. Naito is another one. These guys are really hidden away, but they are worth watching.
