I reckon he'd be a Ruddock /Shavers type contender, dangerous but never to Crack the top guys.

Not likely, he lacks fire on film. In his day he had a size advantage. Today he would be small.

No, he was pretty bad and benefitted greatly from the size disparity.

A sloppy 6'3' 215 would go nowhere today. He'd be better off draining to cruiser if possible.

He was a serious puncher but got sloppy, tired out, etc .. just rewatched his ko of Jackson, colorized by D. Brown, and even in this win he looked so flawed ..

Half the damn division is sloppy 6'3 215ers

    Except they're also hog-fat at 235-240

Of course he would be far more successful today. He was side-stepped back in his day by both Marciano and Patterson (one could debate this but its fairly apparent), but today there are 4 belts floating around. Even the corrupt organizations of today couldn't lock him out with all those champions looking for work. I'm sure he could pick up a strap against this level of competition. But possibly one other reason he was side-stepped in his day was due to manager Bobby Gleason. Everything I've read on him sort of reminds me of him being the Norman Stone of his day. Maybe he caused a lot of Nino's woes.
